In WA, a fair chunk goes to charity, other the Gov.

I don't know if we have any privately owned "Lotto's" like overseas.

Some good does come out of it.

My tickets a winner.....right until I scan it, then it's just expensive note paper

i reckon if you were a newsagent you'd just train yourself to remain deadpan. scan the ticket and say "computer says no" if it's a winning ticket.
Wait till the customer walks out and then start punching the sky and jigging around.

However, the company started a serious lottery when Adams moved to Hobart in 1895 a move supported by the Tasmanian Government. He set up his first operation there and eventually the company grew/developed in other states.

In 2010, Tatts purchased NSW Lotteries from the Government of New South Wales. In 2012, Tatts also purchased the South Australian Lotteries Commission from the Government of South Australia.

and

Tatts Group's UNiTAB arm owns the statewide Totalizator Agency Board (TAB's) agencies in Queensland, South Australia, and the Northern Territory

I won some money on lotto the other week, I mentioned it the Mrs and gave her the option of taking half the amount and parting ways or staying together (without mentioning the amount) .... She had no reason to part so she decided to stay.

hahah I can do the math and never used to enter...
But the thought of all my mates winning with me left out (they do a group thing)
is too much for me. I have to enter as well. Would be far too painfull being the one left out..
