Some cyclists are fine, some are definately not and think they are so holy.
Here in the ACT the government is turning some double lane roads into single lane, so there can be a huge cycle lane, phuch that!! They dont pay rego,
Can everyone get off their hobby horse about the not paying rego thing? I would guess most adult bike riders have a car anyway, so they
are paying as much rego as any other motorist. In the case of fools like me, I am paying two or three regos but I can only drive one vehicle at a time.
If you do really rough calcs on say $200 for rego per car, and say a million cars, that's $200m a year. I suspect that the amount spent on roads per year is much more than that. The rest must be coming from everyone that pays taxes.
and worse, there are purpose built cycle paths 2 metres away. So now thousands of cars are squashed into single lane and the odd cyclist now and then uses the bike lane or bike path. Stupid.
Its pure physics, bikes and cars dont mix.
Ahh... then why are you complaining about them making a two-lane into a one-lane road with a bike lane? What a great way to separate the cars from the bikes. You might even encourage more people onto bikes, reduce the amount of wasted fuel, and get healthier people at the end of it.
If there is one place that biking should be encouraged, then it's in Canberra.
