I own 2 Ozone catalysts a 12m for the 13-18 windrange with lulls near 10 and gusts close to 25. An 8m for 25+ knots but it holds up in 15 knots and stays tame at 33knots. so the 8m is no problem. I feel I could get much more from my 12m than I do. I feel it is a tad gutless in less than 15 knots, no power whatsoever. I used to own a North Fuse (2010) that would keep pulling in the 10-12 knot range (although at its lower range).

I am starting to wonder if I should not bring the back lines in. Is there more to it than just changing the bar pressure and turning speed. And what about flying it with the shortest backlines setting in 80% of the time and make them longer only in higher winds. I keep reading everywhere that this kite has good low-end grunt...I don't think it is grunty at all and when flying at the edge of the window it barely pulls me around... Anyhow, there are not many tuning options and I feel I have a potential one kite quiver in my hands (12 to 26-27 knots) at 85kgs. I am just freeriding, don't need huge boosting but something to learn jumping on, I like the good drift for ski slalom towards the kite in the winter. Liek I could switch to toeside quite easily with the Fuse but the Cat seems to just die as soon as I switch.

Yeah I would.

At 85kgs in a 10kt lull you aint going far anywhere with a 12m regardless of brand.

I weight 90kgs and I use my 17m for the windrange you are using your 12m.

I have Edge & zephyr and they both have back line adjusters at bar end. If you have them don't be afraid to use them, that's what they're there for. If it's really light, pull them in full, and full depower (let it out to stopper) on the cleat. You can always add a bit of depower back on the cleat if it's backstalling.

invite your friends around,
light up the barbeque,
and burn the lot.

I'm pretty sure that woud be an improvement.

Apparently there's a hole in the Ozone layer.
That would definitely affect the handling.

Did you tried to tie strings of your gutless 12m thing with strings of 8m one ?
IMO if your run this two at same time you should have more bang from this two gutless creatures.
or should be very easy for you to change direction if you pull strings of one kite then on another running in opposite direction.
I am not expert on kitesurfing .. how you could you call such maneuver pulling a gybe?

actually I really enjoy that opportunity we could help a bit kitesurfers if they ask us for advice

1. You ... run your rear .... on the shorter knot..... pull-the-bar grunt like your fuse did.... (yes I have ridden .... fuse so I know the feel). The .... will reward, a lighter touch on the bar and more delicate edging...... sheeting input. All of this will make you a better kiter - more attuned.... position ....in the window which will help as you progress....

Not quite I was sleeping as you guys were writing and I had the funniest breakfast reading all this...But yes it was better when it was misplaced. I think I will start a new one, just to keep you guys busy as you wait for the wind to get over that 15knot barrier. Still havent't found my RRD freemove...I may have lost it...
