Anyone following this on the news.

Kind of interesting. It was mildly amusing that even Malcolm was relieved it was all finally over... He'll do his time in the modern comforts of our modern prisons...

You could make a good TV movie out of this story...

At least it all ended relatively passively.

The coppers set up infra red detectors in a few country cabins he had broken into and the trap was set. When he triggered the detector the coppers surrounded the cabin and were waiting until 2am to pounce when he would be sleeping. However, he came out for a cigarette earlier in the night and as he lit up they ponced fearing he may have seen them as the immediate area was lit up.He ran back into the cabin and out the back door and into a police dog and copper.

Can you imagine the look on his face when the coppers jump out of the bushes. In the middle of nowhere and in the still of the night you like up a cigi and then bingo. I guess after 7 years on the run you would get complacent. The state gov won't release the cost of tracking him down - it would be embarrassing for just 1 fugitive. The journo said he didn't apply for bail - no sh1t.

The locals in Gloucester are a bit miffed by his capture, been good for the local economy having all the police and media in town.

Yep, it would have cost a fortune...

Good idea though, to secretly set up some infra red traps.

Good to hear he respected the cabin enough to step outside for a smoke even though he's Aus's #1 most wanted

Probably his first hot meal and shower in a while. Although
I think he might get sick of the menu after 30 odd years
