There has never been a better movie than "The Sand Pebbles".
Thats because it was made when actors knew how to act
One of the few mistakes in that movie was Steve McQueen having to wind up the sights on his rifle to shoot his mate- that particular rifle type should have taken the shot easily with the sights down low.
apart from that (really minor point that you need to be pedantically picky
to spot) it ranks with the best.
