So the story goes...
I'm working in Newman nearing the end of my stint, no where near mum, I've got the flu with a nasty cough (although only until a couple of days ago, I thought I was 90% recovered) and I've got a big surftrip coming up in the NW of WA in 5 days.
What are your home remedies so that I'm good for the trip?!

Drink lots of water. Go to bed early and sleep in, and lots of rest.
Don't have a home remedy really, probably bollocks, if the worked everyone would know about it.

Freshly squeezed orange juice with a berocca for brekky.
My wife and kids had the flu so I started taking this and it bypassed me.
All I got was the sniffles

Like DP said, Lots of Water, plus Vitamin B complex and no dairy products until you are no longer congested. Lots of red meat too. Chicken soup is always good too. (I have a really good recipe for this)

1 Boiling hen
Boil until meat is no longer pink (approx. 1 hour)
take the meat off the bone and shred or slice finely.

With the broth (the water you boiled the chicken in) add 1 cup Split Peas (or more depending on how thick you want it), 1 cup each of Diced Potatoes, carrots, parsnips. Salt and Pepper (and a couple of pinches of ground cummin seeds)
Boil together until vegetables are soft. Add your chicken meat and cook until meat is heated through. Serve with a few splashes of Worcestershire Sauce.

Hope this helps. (also works well with Bacon Bone too)

In a glass put,

Juice of 1 lemon
Tablespoon cider vinegar
Squash 1 garlic clove
Tablespoon of honey
Top up with hot water.

If the first glass doesn't cure you, just the thought of drinking the next one will.

I'll vouch for the apple cider vinegar, a couple shots of that when you feel crook fixes anything. Hipocrates was the first to discover it's medicinal properties.
