WTF is going on? Do the WA Police all have time off over the Christmas break?

I read the Seabreeze article about theft in beach carparks. It seems like this is mainly a WA problem as you don't really hear too much about gangs going around beach car parks in NSW or Queensland.

How can a group of drunks go around harrassing people for over an hour and be going through bags and stuff in a public place in the middle of the day without the police getting involved?

Political correctness and weak laws have led to this tragedy, these gangs and thier antisocial behaviour are the kind of lawlessness that the public have come to accept in Gero - although usually the random bashings and assaults are confined to the down town area. very sad indeed

Dont blame the police, blame everyone that allows it to continue.

BINGO REX,you win the prize. The police do their best in a trying situation and the unfortunate death cannot be laid at their feet.Commiserations to the family concerned but I fear justice will again be blind,or at least politically correct.

Are these acts of theft, violence and intimidation generally committed by certain groups in the WA community?

I had a two month holiday in WA around 10 years ago and got very bad vibes from Aborigines whenever I had anything to do with them. Quite different to where I grew up in NSW. I had many Aboriginal friends when I grew up. Even today, meeting total strangers who are Aborigines, I find them pretty friendly and easy going. Of course I would not want to go into the front bar of the OASIS Hotel in Walgett on pension payday but otherwise I am not worried about them at all.

I note that the so called offenders were told to stop taking drinks from the Rowes esky, shouldnt that read "stop stealing drinks".Ive been told to get #*!&$% when I told Our Indigenous Bros to put back a fellow w/s board back on the beach. Its a sad state our society is in.No respect for the property of others.

Maybe this sort of thing has come about because nobody has!!!!
Sorry Greeny you're way off here, you destroy a cultures way of life and wonder why they go off the rails.

Not saying there's any excuse for what happened here, but to use this incident as an excuse for not saying sorry for much wider ranging wrongs done by ill advised government policy, is just not logical.

Mate, if my grandmother was raped by 100 Australian soldiers and my father was thrown out of a plane after being sodomised by a broomstick it still would not give me an excuse to act like an idiot and harass people on the beach and then murder someone helping their friend.

It has nothing to do with race or politics. It has everything to do with respecting human life and personal property. If certain individuals believe they are above the law and can do what the like then heaven help us. I walked home with my wife and inlaws from the club tonight. If a bunch of yobs accosted us and then killed us, would it make any difference if they were black, brown or white?

The end result is no, because we would be dead. However in the eyes of the law, yes because of the fact the black fella's great grandmother was taken away as a teenager and put in boarding house.

Clearly police needs to treat trouble makers harshly, otherwise one day they will decide to take a cricket bat and knock someone they have a disagreement with over the head with it.

So terrible for the family and friends! what a sad burden they have to carry as for the racial **** who gives a **** people are welcome to there own opinions given there personal experiences, and if someone takes up this type of behaviour they should be hunted down and shot on sight , hows that for peace and justice? who cares I'm a firm believer of an eye for an eye ...so many assholes in this world such strict gun laws

this incident was a group of people that can only be described as thugs with pack mentality not only due to their race, I have seen white young (most of them employed) men watch as one of their mates take on a loner in a carpark 3am in the morning over a meat pie... could easily have killed the guy when he got knocked out and splatted on the ground head first- we had to put him in the recovery position till the ambos arrived.

Aboriginal culture has been eroded for decades by past government policy also alcohol has been one of the biggest contribution to the erosion of their culture - but it has nothing to do with the violent act of killing someone, stealing beer and any other form of obviously wrong behavior towards another human…if you don’t want it done to you or mates.. then you know its wrong.. If aboriginal elders had the cultural power, willingness and influence on their communities then tribal law might have prevented this from happening or at least tribal justice would be carried out -which is far better than conventional law.

I am exposed and have to deal with aboriginals on a weekly basis, most are fine but they are different culturally, with mannerism and a few other things when compared to non aboriginals that I also deal with of similar economical and social demography… anyhow it’s a complex issue!

Its very sad that a hard working decent family man died, such as waste of life… But nothing will change by his death which is a shame.
