well not in its tracks, but what you do to the holes she has already dug, you have to collect her ** and put it in the holes and than put black peper in the hole aswell , than fill it in, so next time she wont dig in or around the same area, and hope she will get nocked out of the habit

Seriously.......

Our border collie used to do the very same thing. We tried chili in the holes, poop in the holes shouting at the dog didn't work.
The one and only thing that did work was once the dog had dug the hole, taking it there and shouting at the hole saying stuff like "naughty hole" "bad hole" etc
Worked a treat.

I think the psychology behind it is the dog got really spun out.

The neighbors thought we were having another episode.

if that doesnt work go with what elmo said.

(1)hession bag, length of rope, brick, local pond.

(2)substitute items in (1) for crab pot and local creek.

(3)ask doctor harry.

Chilli doesn't work on dogs as they do no have the same nerve receptors as us.

You have to catch the dog at it and reprimand it without hitting it.

The best bet is to take it for a bit of a walk down the park, take a tennis racket and ball and give it something to chase each night.

Border collies are very intelligent and active dogs, the little tyke is probably bored witless.

Apologies for going serious

Hey Barbie

Have a 7 month old border collie and the same behaviour

Jord is on to something with poo in the hole - worked for us... Pepper Not sure why it needs seasoning

Short of this, toys, toys and toys... and more toys, stimulation, excercise etc etc - much like us windsurfers... we need our TOYS She is probably a little bored and at this age mischief is king

BTW, mustard on the legs of furniture works wonders...

Lots of exercise and plenty of toys and stimulation for the dog is the only way to prevent the holes. Digging holes, according to my dogs vet, is done out of boredom.

I suppose kiterdan's video shows stimulation, buts that's not what I had in mind.

BTW kiterdan, I won't ask how you came to search and find that nasty little video clip on the tube

teach it to sit/roll/dance ect. our dog has learnt 11 things i can think of from sit to saying hello [more like harrow but we still give him a treat or two for it] and pugwash is right anyway. make it run until it looks like its going to die every morning, only then will it not be bord at home

Both Dog and Hubbie sound bored, more toys needed for both, More walks and exersize for both and only tell them off when you catch them in the act. If it's after the act theyre little brains cant put the act and punishment together.

Barbie, obviously he didn't sink the retic or secure the junction block correctly, well maybe he did, but it wasn't Kelpie proof
You have one of the greatest dogs going, top choice. She will prove to be very loyal the best ever watch dog
You have to be tough on her, make sure she knows your not happy when you find a new hole. being a pup,she thinks you have a great yard to play in
Lots of full boar play time with her will slow this digging holes trend down. get lots of old toys, tennis balls and stuff and walking with interaction other dogs, also a great cure.

A) You have not owened a home too long have you? The novelty does wear off

B) A 6 x 4 rectangle and 6 - 8 tent should keep the beasty under controll

As for the work I did it was done to perfection Mins
The retic is probably more than 2 or 300mm deep and the junction BOX not block has two green plugs and screws holding it back with a saddle fixing the conduit into the ground I swear... come look for yourself
We, sorry I, also had no intentions in getting a dog

As Elmo says, working doggies need to run.

I had a cattle dog that came to the beach every time I did, most days, got to love shift work I used to belt a tennis ball with a baseball bat for her when there was no wind, or after a sail. She never dug a hole, but would cry at the door when it got windy.

Not really. People think "i don't wanna feel that again" so they stop what they're doing. Animals just get angrier so you have to zap them again... and again... and again....

If you are interested Greenie I can give you a go

No thanks Mark
Kinda like when Lisa hooked up a cup cake to a voltage source and Bart kept on grabbing it
