As I stated, it should only be used for
temporary repairs, And used
correctly the repair should be stronger than before, some materials it works better on than others,
I have a mercedes sprinter with a broken heater control unit, all the lugs for the cables were broken off, and the indicator return was Also broken,(all plastic)
I used q bond on all repairs, Its been 4 years now, and they still work fine,
I drive it regularly every day,
Is it possible you got old stock, and the catalyst was off,
or maybe the materials were not 100% compatable,
then there's the matter of whether the materials to be repaired were free from grease and oil, even as little as a finger print from touching the surface to be repaired can cause a weak bond,
Thorough cleaning is a vital part of the process,
Sorry you had a bad experience, I have repaired a cracked gearbox on a suzuki out board, and will post a pic of the repair tommorow
At a guess its done about 40 hours run time in salt water since repairing, and is still holding fine.
No water in, no oil out, no separation
landyacht said...Got ripped off with the Q bond at an industrial fair.
the welding powder was basically a fine silica filler, all the joints eventually failed, and the ** eventually dried out.

bloody rubbish, but be my guest , ignore me and get ripped off yourself
