Western Australia has to be the most over charged and policed place in the world.
Hoons legislation siezures (dob them in) , licence car siezures even if its not you car?
WA In your face policing ,when is it going to stop ..............the next generation will explode at some point.

Now you carnt even go fishing (WITH out paying) with your mates when they toot the horn at 4am to pick you up with out (paranoider out on the high seas).

Protection to all species but make it simple please.

It's about money!!

If they wanted to protect the fish stocks they have all the levers at hand already, like bag and size limits and even seasons all at no cost to the rec fisher.

This is all about money, plain and simple!

And I wonder if it will be the same as the last goverment, who wanted to close the summer fishing season to recreational fishermen, but let the professionals go about thier rape and pillage at will...

This goverment never got voted in so it won't be hard to get them out!!

end rant

Your on the money kk, ITS ALL ABOUT THE ****ING MONEY.

Boat - $30.00
Cray - $45.00
Abalone - $45.00
Marron - $45.00
Scalefish - $150.00

AND THATS JUST FOR ME. Not to mention my wife who loves all of the above, my kids and a mate who doesnt have a boat.

Again its a case of a few wankers ****ing it up for the many who do the right thing.

We already have bag and size limits in place but the problem there is that there is never an inspector at the ramp to check. I see it all the time, 2 fishers on a boat, 7 Dhuies, 5 Schnapper, 6 Baldchin etc etc etc in a days catch. And the ****ers brag about it.

One last thing, if you fish from the beach, you dont need to pay.

So why don't you take their rego# & report them, (read) save your own sport!
Have a look in the photo section, it's a disgrace how many fish these people take. They only have themselves to blame.

To be honest the laws in this state are the slackest in the country.
Sorry, that should read "slackest enforcement" of laws in the country.

Firstly, I apologise to all for my "colourfull descriptiveness" in my reply earlier. I was having a bad hair day today

Paul,

On several occasions I have reported them by passing on their rego to FishWatch but Im told all the so called "inspectors" could do is have a chat to them and warn them of the consiquences "IF" they are caught red handed.

Its like they wouldnt believe you in what you have seen.

Thats my point and you said it as well, the Govt is all about enforcing the rules but its very rare you hear that someone has been caught. Also there are not the required number of inspectors to police all the ramps/beaches.

I emailed Fisheries and asked if they had a scheme whereby I could become a "part time" inspector. The answer was a flat NO. All I could do was (in their words) to educate anyone I saw doing the wrong thing.

Do you realy think that would work????????? NOT

And as for the photo gallery here for fishing, your dead right. I posted several months ago mentioning this and showing a pic of what was an outright discracefull amount of fish caught in one day.

Its these people who are stuffing it up for the majority of us who do the right thing. These pictures should not be allowed to be posted here or on any other site.

Or better still, maybe the guys at Seabreeze could pass their details onto Fisheries. MMMMMMMMM that would sort them out.

Cheers.

i heard there going to put speed cameras on the water aswel.
its a revenue raiser.but..
Good if u can afford a boat u are used to throwing money away.
Why not sell your boat go down sealanes and get a box of your favourite fish
will cost you 50,000 dollars less.
Good i encourage taxes on fishermen it boring get a real sport where your bodys heartrate increces more the 110 bpm.
Fishing is like lawnbowls for old people. get a real sport i hope the goverment still continues heavily tax such a sport inwhich people take and not give.
Hopefully my kids will be able to catch a fish oneday.
They should really target comercial fishermen the people who rape the waters the worst.

a few weeks ago i watched a doco on sbs about comercial fishing in one go ( put net out -pull net in) 500 tonne of mackel and our life sucking government recommends this new fishing lic will aid in helping our fish stock in w.a.... " BULL$H#T"... it just another way to get screwed in W.A[}:)][}:)] heres a story i can tell my kids .
once upon a time kids in a land far ,far away we had sunday trading, daylight savings, free parking, your cars never got broken in to, you where safe to go outside to play and you could fish all day for free ...... this has got to be the greatest money sucking scam since the speed camera .
i have never gone after big snapper or jew and strongly recommend bag limits should be enforced but this lic "" BULL$$$$$$$$$hIT

looks like the pro-daylight saving nutters have turned their attention to commercial fishermen now?

quote-"They should really target comercial fishermen the people who rape the waters the worst."

quote-"but let the professionals go about thier rape and pillage at will..."

Look a little closer boys and check if you know what you are talking about.
Sure there are some dodgy pro's but while they may be in the tens or dozens, there are hundreds of dodgy amateurs.
Use your scones-why would a bloke with hundreds of thousands of bucks (or millions) risk his entire business for a few kakkas or little snapper?
Im not a pro now but I have "walked in those shoes".
Commercial fisherman have to agree to take a fisheries inspector along with them while they work pulling pots. You cant pretend you are only working 95 pots when your licence says 100 (cos the other 5 have the gaps nailed up etc). Patrol boat follows making sure none are skipped.
Wetline fisherman have been slammed bigtime by new rules in the past couple of years-check it out for yourselves.

where is this taking place in WA? that is twice the total Spanish Mackeral catch for the entire State, and around the total catch for scaly mackeral for WA and your saying that Fisheries want this method that catches the whole lot in one shot? Tell me more cos Id be fighting against it also!

Im against these new "taxes" as much as all of you-but direct your anger in the right direction, not at "bogymen"-hiding in the shadows.

not quite shore where i turned my attention to attacking commerical fishers but merely pointing out the difference between 500 tonne of rape( who said spanish mackeral ?) and some mates catching a few .( how will my lic money help fish stock in w.a????? )
thats what i want to know...
my point is the new lic for recreational fishing in w.a is nothing more than another money grab from our caring friends in government ,not about how many cray pots you have.

OK you said "mackel" but I assumed you were referring to Mackeral of which there are only two basic types in WA, spanish (and its variations, shark etc) and scaly mackeral. You said you saw a documentary on this and WA wanted to base these new laws on it?

Anyhow I totally agree with you that this is a money grab by a government desperate to plug a revenue gap.
Commercial Fishermen have had to deal with this sort of issue for a long time, and their take on it was that they were being forced to pay for research into recreational fishing. It would appear that this is correct though as ONLY they were paying for scale fish research. However the big problem is the concentration of amateurs in the metro regions.

My point is, not to point the finger at the wrong people. By doing this the government wins by "divide and conquer". This is why they didnt bring this sort of stuff in at the same time as the new commercial rules a couple of years back. They knew the new commercial rules would be greeted with support from amateurs, as long as they thought they wouldnt be affected.

My take is its way over the top, probably been drafted by spin doctors and accountants with a little input by fisheries.

I JUMP into my mates boat ,as he couldnt find any other sucker to help launch him at 5.am, with the boat ramp under water with far from ideal fishing conditions.

1 I dont have any boat licence, i dont have fishing licence.
i throw a line over .............BUSTED YER ?

2 So the 2 of us carnt catch the one of our bag limits.yER
3 Skipper asks me to take the helm ..............Busted Yer ?

4I have now a fishing licence only ,start fishing, hook a scalefish (Dhue), my mate has the scale licence, i dont ,tHE BOAT can claim my catch as his catch limit, if he is the only onE with the scalefin licence.? Yer

LEFT FEILD

5 If my line and hand real is connected to my mates WITH the licences and i am holding the other end which happens to have a sinker and hook also. i am thus only assisting the one line user and thus holder of the fishing licence.

When i hook up i PASS THE OTHER END to him ?

I THINK Ill JUST HAVE TO SPEW UP MY MONEY.

pS whats the day rate for scale fish licence
and whats the scale fish licence rate for say a 3 day trip or a week trip ?

Slow learner .................... why not ban catching most species. DROPPING A LINE IS ABOUT DREAMING .Dreaming should be free.

Where is the education on how to release these scale fish if caught and there the size of a foot ball //////?????????????
