Having purchased my first new wetsuit in years today, I was shocked at the innacuracy of the sizes the manufacturers were claiming for their wetsuits. Having slimmed down quite considerably over summer, I was expecting to fit snugly into an XL size........ WRONG!!!! Some I couldn't even do the zip up on, others left me feeling a Boa Constricter had just wrapped itself around me........ Even in XXL sizes certain brands were impossible to wear with any comfort!!! The inconsistency of sizes between brands and the obvious incorrect sizing has left me feeling very distressed this morning,................. and Don't even think about asking me what size I ended up buying!!

could have fun here, but will bite my tongue.

The shops should have a pool or shower available for trying on wetsuits. They always feel tight when they are dry, and different when they are wet.

You sometimes need to buy the Boa Constrictor, coz when its wet it will be fine.

Dont worry too much about the size thing hardman, used to work in a shop which sold heaps of wetties and every manufacturer are different. A good rule of thumb is that oneils are the biggest cuts followed by rip curl and peak with the really little ones coming out of quicksilver (why would americans make little wetties their all huge). Not sure about the other manufacturers. A medium oneill is a large ripcurl or even an xtra large quicksilver. Dont forget about split sizes too if your short and fat get an LS suit its shorter in the body but wider in the shoulders (and gut) than L. Go to a good store with a big range cos there is always a suit that will fit.
Oneil suits are the best aswell (not just cos I fit them)
