Total newb - never even tried it but I have a launch-anywhere boat & a visitor keen catch a feed.
Any local knowledge/tips etc. most welcome.

Want to Crab in Perth?
Well the spot in Perth is the swan river, Black Wall Reach, near Freo, need crab nets with long ropes, at least 12mts, at nite is best

use chicken frames for bait...I'm not sure how legal it is
but I've (been told) it smashes them!
Fish heads are no where near as good.

In front of Bicton baths at night
you will need 25 metres of rope if you go deep, but even in the shallows they are usually thick.
I used to take people night diving there
Personally I never want to pull up more than 10 metres of rope and pull them up every 15 minutes

i tried tins of tuna to attract muddies when they were in the moore river and it worked like a treat! crabs love that oily smell, mmm tuna
