Just watched Obama being interviewed by David Letterman on Netflix. How the hell did Trump get elected after this quiet spoken and intelligent man is beyond me.
Obama had every opportunity to get stuck into Trump but never even mentioned him.
Interesting comments on social media on how algorithms are designed to study our behaviour and feed us news and advertising based on our search history and patterns.
Rednecks get Fox news and socialists get public radio. It feeds them what they want to hear whether it's bullshyte or not or fake news as they like to call it.
And we never really get decide anything as we will act on issues they are feeding us which has always been the case but is now so much more in our faces than ever before.
Worth watching.

If the Democrats had served up a mainstream candidate other than Clinton, Trump would have been a loser. Why the Republicans hate her so is anybody's guess.

There is something to be said for that even if you consider yourself intelligent and worldly. There are others in the population and sometimes you can alienate them.

People voted for Trump, probably on the basis of simple slogans, and really simplistic understandings of the way government works. I think Trump is working out that its not as simple as he expected. I also believe the suggestion that he didn't really want to win, and just wanted to media exposure for his businesses.

If there had been another Obama equivalent, then maybe Trump wouldn't have won.

Trump did not win, Hillary Clinton lost. Mit Romney received more votes in the 2012 presidential election that Trump obtained in 2016.

In any case with Obama if you are a mainstream type, you can't complain about him. He kept the big banks in business, he kept the wars & killing grinding along, he kept the war on drugs going, he allowed the big health insurance company lobbyists to rewrite the Affordable Healthcare Act ensuring their profits keep rising. All kind of mainstream Republican/Democrat policies he had no problem with.
