What do you think is better Radio or Tv.
Even though the tv has good shows and has live sport there are lots of ads.
ABC radio has interesting talkback and Live sport like cricket and AFL etc
Also triple J has good music to listen to
So what do you think

It depends if you want to watch it or listen to it.
It's not a lot of fun watching the radio.
And it can be a bit frustrating listening to the tv.

If you're driving, or lying in bed waitng to go to sleep, listening to the radio is definitely better.
If you're sitting around watching a movie then the tv is better.

So that's that topic sorted.

I'll join the Macca bashing. He annoys me that bloke - I bet he rides a recumbent bike.

His whole show is essentially the following transcript on a loop:

"G'day Macca, it's XXX from XXX here"

"G'day XXX. You sounds like a real top bloke mate and you live in the country so you're doing it tough and city folk don't understand, but I do. How about that weather?"

Neither - internet streaming tv / radio is better than both

Listen / watch only what you want and ignore all of the stuff you don't

Agreed, TV is so annoying now. Always rewinding to what just happened, and then pausing for breaks. Only to rewind back again..WTF!...

One thing which is exceptionally annoying is when you watch a movie
on Tv and every 5 minutes they have an ad break

Internet radio is AMAZING..... so many stations from around the world.
Actually found one the other night the Mrs. found interesting, a 24hr "Knitting" station where they discussed yarns, patterns, knitting needles with interviews from around the world. It's now on her Fav. list.

Knitting. Blokes used to do that in the old days (ie sailors).

Is there a station that deals with darning socks??

Not Hardly normal for sure. I try and support the local independant electrical guys wherever I can. If the other clowns are cheaper they have always matched their price.

For me the issue is computers, tv has always been wasting away some valuable time to get things done but we have more than double the dose with computers and the need to check e-mails...

When taking into account the amount of rubbish advertising on tv, that is an overload of crao being fed to you.

I ditched my tv all together 2 months ago as I wouldn't take away from my kid the opportunity to use a pc (they will need those skills) and it has had a huge impact.

Kids read more, play games, are more creative and listen to more music.

I miss UFC and footy but it is a small price to pay for a huge benefit.

Radio. I listen in the car. I haven't turned on a TV set since early January. If I want to watch something I use youtube.

The odd thing is, you would think listenning to ABC Classic FM would put me to sleep but it doesn't. The ordianry Radio National talking station, 810am puts me to sleep in about 10 minutes. Mostly they talk about nothing and it's so boring that when I try and concentrate on the boring talk, it just puts me to sleep.

I can only imagine that it's a throwback to my school days ( gee,.. that's a long throw ) when we were supposd to concentrate on what the teacher was saying during the after lunch lessons.
The more I tried to concentrate, the more I dozed off.
They were the days when teachers threw chalk and dusters at the students to get their attention. Never mind the injuries or the wrong targets being hit.
Ahhh,.. the good old days.

He doesn't ride a recumbent bike. I met him one late night about 2 am while I was sorting out the load in the back of my truck. ABC Sydney is across the road from the old Dairy Farmers depot at Ultimo.
Anyway, he was waiting for the NRMA to show up to do something really minor for him and just wanted someone to talk to. I can't remember if it was a flat tyre or a flat battery that needed fixing, but I thought it was quite funny that the archetypal Australian bushie, as presented on air, needed the help. I hope my amusement caused no offence

Classical music excites the brain so it will certainly not send you to sleep.

By the way "listening" has only two "n"s in it not three.
