The bit that actually annoys me the most is putting 'Angry Atheists' on there as a way of making the whole thing christian propaganda.

I traced this back and they are referring to the Neo Nazi skinhead that killed 6 Indians with a pistol. He was in n out of jail, in white power movement, played in bands with lovely names like "raping brown babies" etc.

Anyone with half a clue knows about Sikhs. Long hair, wound up and under a turban, required to carry a knife, often last name 'Singh', very peaceful. Go to Woolgoolga for the curry fest some time if you wanna meet some Sikh banana growers.

I find it a bit rich to count him as an 'angry atheist'.

^^ most of the out-n-proud right-wing "Guns, God, Family & the almighty yankee dollar" websites that feature that bombathon crap are all about the typical conservative stuff. The white christian god features strongly. While Dinsy's post didn't have that stuff, the sites it comes from do. The message you're supposed to take home is that our religion is right and peaceful, theirs or no religion at all is wrong and violent.

To help you with some background pweedas, theres a bit of a struggle in the US at the moment, the religious right is very strong and very firmly entrenched in the politics of the country. On the other hand there's a young atheist wave rising and it's challenging the establishment. It's a big issue over there, and in some ways it's a growing issue here now too, seeing as how the religious right is now running QLD unopposed.

As to whether the body count is true. Well I'm gonna say it is complex and straight numbers dont tell the story. Fundie muslims are out there killing people any way the can, that much is true. Some of the figure above will be genuine terror attacks.

Others will be part of a civil war. When 2 sides are at war, it's hard to draw the line. What's a guerilla; a rebel, a terrorist? Star wars - terrorists who killed hundreds of thousands of innocent contractors building the death star (for no real good reason that I can remember) - all depends on your POV doesn't it?

Others are killed as part of ancient tribal ties which dictate religion, for example I noticed they're counting places like Nigeria and Sudan. These countries are pretty mixed up, and lots of groups are killing lots of other groups for various reasons. To call them terror attacks or anything specifically muslim is really not taking in the bigger picture and ignoring the other side of the tit-for-tat that's going on.

Bottom line spreading around simplistic us vs them stuff like Dinsy has here really doesn't help anyone towards peace.

Seems to me , religion , whatever the faith, is and and has always been ,
