I used these guys for 8 years

Ours was ducted...they did my services and on occasions, answered some really blonde questions with a friendly professional manner.

They also went out of there way to fix an issue which they really did not have to before the unit went out of the warranty period.

For refrigerated air con Ray and Matt @ Ford and Doonan in Ozzy Park. They installed our ducted Daikin system a few years back and it is by far the best performing refrigerated system in our house..... We have three systems

Minto, be mindful on what draw for a full house is.
We have a Hitachi invertor (very quite system, no snap on and off, ramp up and ramp down as fan kicks in) full house system. At full chat it can draw over 16kw running full house. max it is allowed is 16 on this unit.
Due to size I need to run two zones at all times on any setting above low fan cooling or heating. (well thats in the operation manual I have)
In hind sight, I should have gone independent system for each room
So in layout. Big kitchen and dining/play area. It draws 10.2
Theatre/lounge, 3.2
Main bedroom and one other bedroom, 5.6
Bed 3 & 4, 3.4
Be mindfull on where you place outside unit for noise and shaded area. Same for internal intake draw as this can be a tad noise polution if a light sleeper.
So add up what independent systems will run you and see how it stacks up.
Make sure the independent are "ground mounted" outside. Can be noise problem as well if they want to mount on walls.
No issues since install, cept power bills System is 9 years old now.

All our resident houses in Northwest have independent each room.

Hope this helps.

Ours is nearly 19kW our normal daily usage is about 22kW, with the AC running from 9am-10pm last week each day it rose to 120kW a day The household CFO is gonna lose her ** when the bill comes in.

Ours got installed by the previous owner... and so far 2 AC techs have said it shouldnt have been installed where it is. It is too close to the fence and wall and has a eave over it - which does an awesome job of directing and attenuating the noise into the neighbours bedroom window and outside living area... it doesnt pass council boundary noise regs until the NEXT house over - so we cant run it at night

It also gets the afternoon sun and being too close to the wall & fence gets the heat off both.

My 2c - do NOT buy Fujitsu. In my experience they simply do not honour their warranty.

If I had my chance again I'd go Daiken for sure.

I've been using these guys for about 15 years on commercial work. Definitely worth considering and getting a quote, though the big retailers do sell the split systems very cheap.....

combo of good insulation in roof and evaporative works well.

Ours was 3 g to install into a 3 brm home - the whole house has been cool all the way through the heatwave we had in perth.

Had to have a blanket on at night

Costs about a dollar a day to run.

Our first home had evap and over 5 summers there was never a time that it didnt do the job in Perth. Same deal - roof had good insulation.

They arent quite as effective as it gets humid - but still do the trick nicely.

Evap done right is the smart solution - no whopper power bills.

I still dont understand why most of the market is willing to go for the refrigerated mega power bill option ? Just seems to be short sighted to me - and the power consumption is just crazy. But they are your bills to choose to pay.

Wow,

Thanks Seabreezers!

Mino, 200 plus sqm house, we have solar power so running cost will be reduced a tad, I doubt we would ever have all zones pumping, maybe 4 at most at any one time.

Barry, Ducted only mate!

Kiteboard, cheers mate, good link that one :) I know how to search for stuff mate, nothing like getting feed back from owners.

Everyone else many thanks, I got me some extra researching to do.
