Well it seems that the only way to watch the big match is gone.

*sigh*

Any alternatives?

Myeh.. they were funny in the early 90s but time moves on.

Then again it makes the pedestrian game of league a tiny bit more watchable.

Thugby is not my fav game but I must admit that NRL origin games go to another level. Wish the AFL could get the namby pamby proffessional players to commit themselves to an origin series in the same way.

Is that so? Tell you what then, how about we go down to the soccer fields one day and I can show you exactly what a rugby league tackle feels like. I'll give you a hint, it's a generally bit heavier than a rugby union tackle. But we can work out the finer details then, when would you like to do it?

Great game last night, had it all.

The Roy and HG call is going to be sadly missed for both the NRL and AFL big games.

Hey Funky good that you recognise that the AFL has got some "namby pamby professionals", my guess is the greater concentration of them are at their headquarters at Roberts Road, Subiaco.

the ironic thing is that one of roy's jokes in the early 1990's was that rugby was invented so that untalented afl players had a game to play, and was a no-name sport, played by no-name people, for no reason

and then they made the pair of them hosts

so what you're saying pat, is that you like to invite random guys down the park so you can stacks-on them as hard as you can....

Big bloke with no kneck runs into a brick wall..
Repeat 3 more times then try to actually do something with the ball..
Give ball to other team and repeat process (unless lucky enough to go for some butt sniffing and ear removal in a scrum).
Fail to see the entertainment value there.

Hey Pat - I actually played full contact thugby (ahem.. as a 6 yr old) in Sydders and got a toof knocked out! Ha ha - in another of the great sporting moments of my life (hardly) I played an arvo of beer-swilling-touch thugby in Qld last year and my old hammys pulled up so sore the next day I was struggling to get a decent action happening at lawn bowls at the RSL! Really.

Diver - 10 points for perseverance.. 0 points for progress (kinda like that ever underperforming rabble down at Freo oval). Yep the Eagles suck this year for sure.. ha ha ha ha STILL higher on the ladder than you purple freaks.

Here is their captain for gawd's sake

Ha ha - little blokes learn to side step unlike the more expansive fellas. In thugy union - from what i have seen - most of the blokes have some element of manouvreability hence the lesser hits but greater entertainment value. the game doesn't stop every 2.5 secs (like gridiron) either.

Not sure why you would want to show the finer points of physical mass on the soccer fields? Surely that would be inviting a red card?

BTW Thugby lovers I am just taking the off-season p!ss. It is certainly not as bad as soccer after all.. Roowwrrr ffft ffft fft!!! [}:)]

Not random guys, just the funkyman, and only the soccer fields because I know there's some near his house. Yes, I am stalking him. Yes, he should be concerned.

Thank gawd for Melbourne hey Diver.

Dunno about T, but every time the Dockers take to the field their opponents cry.. tears of joy that is. They were in the game against Geelong though I'll give em that. Part of the 'enigmatic' nature of Freo.

Hey Nebs - sorry for completely high-jacking your thread BTW.
