Hi All,
I Just wanted to warn everybody that I have been approached by a scamer from Malaysia who wanted to purchase the boat I have for sail on this site.

I am not blaming this site at as Seabreeze is a great site but just want to make sure that nobody gets caught out. I have reported him to Paypal and will register it with the federal police.

So if you get someone wanting to buy your items, send them an invoice from paypal. Do not believe the scam emails that are sent to you that look like Paypal ones.
Check the email address that it is sent from, if it is not @paypal.com or au then chances are it is a scam.

There everywhere.

Tried to buy an outboard off gumtree few weeks back was a scam

Had a boat trailer for sale on boat point and trading post. I removed the adds as to much hassle. Anyone want to buy a boat trailer?

Ordered parts for an rc helicopter off ebay 4 months ago never received. Was only $6

Only buy items you can see
Only sell when you get cash in your hands.

Hey Stufer,

Bummer about your into to scammers trawling adds on seabreeze, gumtree, etc. If you have a quick look on this forum, you will find plenty of similar stories & warnings.

If it sounds a little too good, or too weird to be true, be vigilant my friend

try selling on gumtree... that site is near unusable.
75% of my responses were from scammers. you can spot them so easy.
Anyone who wants to buy unseen thorugh sms or email is a scammer. In your ad - put "CALL ME I WONT RESPOND TO EMAIL or SMS".

I've only had positive experiences selling and buying on Gumtree.

When buying I normally ask a question about the product and if I get an answer and it's favourable, then I write through email only and set up the transaction. As I said all good to date.

I've sold a canoe and a sailboard on Gumtree in the last couple of weeks and had no problems with scammers. I think it depends somewhat on what you're selling. Motorbikes are a magnet for scammers.I guess boats are too.

Scammers are everywhere. There are some simple tricks to avoid getting scammed though.

I have written a very comprehensive book called 'Don't Get Scammed by Scammers Man'. It is fully updated and includes over 100 colour photographs.

It is your best defense against the scammers and a must have item. It was recently voted #1 in class by consumer group 'What'.

To get your copy send $50 cash, your credit card details or wire $50 via Western Union (sorry, but if you read chapter 7 of the book you will realise why I can't accept cheques, postal orders, paypal or in person visits) to :

PO Box 1
Nigeria

Remember to include your full street address and, of course, details of when you will not be home, so that the couriers don't try to deliver while you are out !

Much greetings xxx

Good Morning! Good Morning!

Yes hello Sir please contact me. My friend, we look forward to establishing a business conduit with your most esteemed company. We are most agreeable to mutually constructive arrangements. This should be carried out on the interweb. These arrangements are really catching on here, and too much time gives rise to the devil's tools.

My secretary will arrange for further communications with you too. It can be slow to find our offices where the streets have no name. I still haven't found what I'm looking for because she moves in mysterious ways.

I have instructed my Attorney & Actuary to meet with you. This will have to be before 11am. We will have tea, and I have ordered extra cups. To ensure discretion, we will wear overcoats, and carry our documents in plain brown paper wrapping. I have shaved my beard but you will recognise the colour. My Actuary writes with his left hand.

We will need a banking conduit. We normally use the Royal Bank of Dalton, but believe they may misunderstand our relationship. It would be best if we used your bank. The conduit should be reamed to ensure a smooth flow. I have instructed my Attorney to lay cable. Please forward your paymypal.com account details.

We will require an export enhancement application. Your Ministry of Trade should be very helpful in this regard. The VAT on the export can be credited against your future income earnings, less management fees. This can be claimed using the rebate application. Forward debits can be credited against existing liabilities, ensuring a reliable cashflow. These are balanced at end of financial year. This will allow us all to dip our beaks.

It is essential that we strike the anvil while the day is long and hot. I have issued instructions. Let us not be accused of dilly dalliances!

Good Morning! Good Morning!

Yeah, nah... note that it is super easy to send an email "from" any email address. You actually entered your from address when you set your email client up, remember?

for thing off eBay , i limited myself to max of $30 , and must be at least 50% cheaper from local shops

it all down to risk VS reward ,

if some thing is half price it maybe worth the risk

i buy
( mum )craft item $2-$5
car parts , and other boys toys if i can pick them up

i have been burnt buying electronic LED globe $5 , laptop $1,000
i find that if it not 10% of the cost of JB-HIfi , don't bother , if they break , or fail , it never worth the risk

better to get them at the shops where you can pick it u same day , and have warranty

I wrote that letter to send to spammers after seeing a U2 concert.
I thought I was so clever & funny I lay in bed laughing. My wife doesn't get it.

I still think it is some of my best work ;-)
