So she has had another 5 yrs chopped off and some in the media are saying you will be free in August.......I think that 20 yrs was / is a little harsh for grass charge but you would have to be an idiot to not know the consequences of getting caught in that jurisdiction. So its hard for me to have too much sympathy. I read the book "sins of the father" and it certainly did not leave me wondering too much about her guilt!!!

I think she's done about enough time. Still gives a massive deterrent to others... Sets a good example of what treatment you expect...

8 prime years is a long time actually. Pretty sure she was roughly mid 20's when nabbed... That's part of your prime years.

My wife can be a tad narrow minded with this stuff... She callously said, "she'll be doing that again within 3 years" (trafficking drugs!). I just bite my tongue, to avoid the bull crap argument... That's part of the love of knowing what makes someone tick... I just vaguely feign agreement without really saying anything... So she thinks she's right (the wife), all high and mighty!

Did the book alledge she knew or did her loving bro or dad slip it in there without her knowledge?

The book certainly did not say that she did it blank but detailed how her old mans drug operations went and how all the ducks lined up (or failed that time) for these operations. It seems that there is a long and extensive dealing game within parts of that family and their close associates. It details people involved in the broader syndicate and their roles and who got busted along the way. It certainly left no doubt in my mind that she would have been well aware of what was going on. But if she says she is innocent then maybe she is.......

8 years in that hole is enough for a non violent crime and it was just pot. Not exactly ruining lives with that stuff. Just motivation.

I think she should ditch her family when she get's out, not talk to gossip magazines and go live the quiet life, mainly out of respect for her supporters.

The big mistake (and not really hers, but her family and their legal advice) was making a big song and dance about the whole thing.
If she'd pleaded guilty, paid a 'facilitation' fee, promised to go to rehab and kept herself and her family off TV she probably would have been home in less than a year, or at least on a prisoner swap.

Out of interest, how long would you get in Australia for the same offence?

Would you get jailed for that amount here and for how long?

I'm remember being told by a crim lawyer mate 3 years probably suspended , plus fine.

your mate is right. i would say if your mate was a good lawyer and she was a cleanskin it would just be a fine.

You would think under "Proceeds of Crime" blah blah blah that she would get FA but maybe there's a loophole given she was convicted outside OZ
