Now that the season is coming to an end and I wont be getting my daily dose from the so called trusty Freemantle Doctor, I need to occupy myself with something else through the winter months and was thinking scuba diving!!!

I have looked into courses and have found a good deal with a company in Welshpool.

I was wondering if any of you sailer folk may be interested in meeting up and taking the course with me for 2 reasons

#1 You have to have a buddy to dive with - its the law!

#2 I have no friends! LOL

On a serious note I have done about 6 dives around various parts of the world and it is a hell of a buzz believe me! However, these dives would not count as anything so I would be at the start like you!

If anyone is interseted then let me know and we an talk some more.

For your info - you must be over 14years of age
not have asthma

It costs about $425to do your full PADI course

This includes your PADI open water diver manual, divers log book, recreational dive planner, carry pouch, use of all scuba equipment necessary, pool fees, certification fees and a wall certificate,it also includes 5 pool dives and 4 ocean or river dives.

Once the course is complete you are certified to dive to 18 metres with a buddy.

The course is run over 4 days either through the week or 2 weekends but if a group of 4 or more take it then they will tailor a schedule to suit.

You can also hire all scuba gear once certified so no need to go and spend loads on gear straight away unless you want to of course.

Ok, I think thats it, if anyone is interested or wants to know more then give me a shout!

Cheers

Dam I would love to do it. But I need 425 to spend on new gear. Grrrrrr, why must windsport be so addicting.
Maybe next year. Or when (i hope) I get my new job, I might be able to.

if you wanna dive alone battyboy as it seems you want to...dive and dive till you hit a number of dips and go up the ladder till you get a technical course in nitrox till mixed gases and i think you should be able to dive on your own(don't quote me on this)

I just got my PADI in November so I could do something on (figuratively) the water when there's no wind, but I haven't been back in since then. I alter other social plans to go kiting, but I haven't built up the motivation to fob off my drinking buddies to dive yet. Also don't have a dive buddy. PM me once you get the ticket if you want to go for a dive.

I don't know of anyone down here that dives so most of my dives are solo and have never been pulled over by a cop. Last dive off Peron Point got 4 crays and circled by dolphins showing off, magic.
Can get kitted out with new gear for under $2000 or 2nd hand for a grand, Dive superstore is worth checking out.
Hope you get a few guys join you battyboy, it's a good way to keep fit when there's no wind . If there's a few divers around , maybe we could organize a group dive.
How many divers are out there
