It's now going back to the "full bench of the Federal Court". I would hate to think how much this is costing tax payers...

Or if the cost is included within a normal years work for most of these people (government employees), I would have thought that their time could be more productively spent on other issues.

I would broadly suggest that 10-15 person weeks will get sucked up by this... average day rate, maybe $2,500...?? That's a cool $100,000 or so... and I think that's low. I just think it's a waste of resources, on an extremely rare and isolated incident.

Our legal system works on precedent. The gummint is trying to have the precedent set in its favour. If it wins it'll save a lot of money in the future.

Yeah, I know. But what about setting precedents on bigger issues that effect a greater portion of the population... rather than setting a precedent on what is pretty much an extremely rare and unlikely event, or "an act of god!".
