I don't know anything about the contract between Sonny Bill and the Bulldogs (great name for a rock band) but he has apparently walked out on his contractual obligations.

The NRL will no doubt drag him through the courts because the viability of their contractual system is at risk.

Sonny Bill is reported to be relying on law that prohibits unfair restriction of trade. He will claim that the salary cap constitutes a breach of this law. Presumably he then expects this will vitiate his contract.

I would have thought that the salary cap would be irrelevant. If he is a signatory to a contract that is an agreement to provide various services (playing football being the main one) for an explicit consideration (presumably a whacking great fee) then he is bound by that agreement whether he would like the fee to be bigger or not. I would have thought that having agreed to the fee in the full knowledge that it was capped that he has a cut and dried obligation to fulfil the contract. But if that were the case presumably Sonny Bill and his advisor(s) would be aware of that.

The law is a tangled web. It will be interesting to see where this goes.

yes , very interesting .

Stay on a sinking ship or go and swim to a ice berg loaded with drunken naked bi-women .

He is definetly stupid , what he should of done is ......

#1 - don`t turn up for training
#2 - turn up to the games pissed
#3 - shag the coach`s missus
#4 - shag the coach`s dog
#5 - post it all on here .. seabreeze , where millions can watch .

after all that he would of got a immediate negotiated discharge and would of been all clear to play with the frogs .... then the All Blacks .

I thought these were the first three clauses of every RL player's contract

.....and he'll be dissappointed that he won't be good enough to play for the wallabies, but I suppose playing for the 2nd best team in world isn't too bad.
