OK- me confused.

More than a few times this week, there have been nice sea-breeze green arrows up at Ocean Reef (and Rotto), but bugger all elsewhere in the Perth Metro area.

Three possible explanations come to mind, but I don't understand any of 'em...
1. The sea breeze gods now favour the Northern Sprawl over Freo.
2. Northern suburbs have removed enough trees to allow better low-altitude wind-flow.
3. There's a meteorological explanation.

Any mystics, town-planners or amateur meteorologists please exployn?

It's building down in the city

The answer to your question involves many things which are too complex for me to write now. However, the major control on wind is Uranus

Today for instance, the seabreeze hit Ocean Reef 2 hours before Swanbourne/Safety Bay. Random luck, or something more? (in which case I should move to somewhere like Yanchep).

yes! 3. There is a meteorological explanation.

but 4. There is a political solution: we need daylight savings!

BUT, the wind is outlasting the daylight... Yes to daylight savings, yes to more wind

There is something wrong with the Safety Bay & melville water graphs.

Safety bay has always understated the wind - looks to be right now. Is it a new instrument?

Melville seems to be a bit understated - looks like a bit of sabotage. Must be some fishing line wrapped around it?

The Melville weather station was moved into the bay on the northern side of the Peli Pt sandspit at the start of winter... This location nicely sheltered from the wind and under reads NW and SW/S... E seems OK.

It all becomes clear now - I am not that intereseted in Easterlies.

Why was it moved - hit too many times by boats? Used to be on that pylon in the middle of the river? Are you with the BOM Puggsie

Will have to factor off the sea stations.

Thanks Pug

As for daylight saving, this comes up every year ...... this is Western Australia ...... we like being a generation or two behind, get used to it. Beside, the curtains would fade!!

Not with BOM Just love wind! I go to Peli Pt sometimes after work (before it gets dark - early), I have seen the station on the way...

I spoke with the BoM the other day and they said they were aware it's broken, and are going to fix it?
