has anyone heard any results out of speedweek at sandy point. i heard stories of people getting 40+ knots on some of the runs. can anyone bring forth any info on this.

Try Starboard Forum, the Sandy Point thread.

44.6 knots was the highest recorded GPS time by Chris Lockwood.

If that's an official time, then he's beaten Bjorn for the open ocean record! But this is an average speed over a 500m course, not a spot top speed.


Bjorn Dunkerbeck is flying on the Speed Course and sets 2 new speed records!

At the Walvis Bay Speed Week, Namibia, Bjorn Dunkerbeck (Neil Pryde, T1,Proof) has set a new open water World Speed Record for windsurfing boards at 44,35 knots.

In 30-35 knot wind conditions, Bjorn set the record using his production Neil Pryde RS4 Speedseeker 5.8.

In the >amateur class, Henne Redenkamp set a new African record at 42,99 knots.
