I suppose it would take their minds off bank bailouts and the state of the economy. Spains not doing too well you know.
I think I can see why now.
I'm surprised they could round up enough stupid people to stage such an event.
They must have a surplus of idiots.

If I am going to injure myself for the sake of a 'near death' thrill, then it is going to be while kitesurfing.
Those people are looking for that near death experience, the same feeling that every extreme sports enthusiast seeks. Like surfing a monster wave, climbing mount Everest, driving Formula one, chasing that ultimate high.

Sigmund Freud theorised that we all have a subconscious secret death wish.
I think the above pretty much proves it.

I know I should probably be more sensible, but gee I laughed until I nearly cried!! I know it's immature but it's the honest truth. they got a flogging! Thrown around like rag-dolls! What a powerful animal! I'm sure that it is a bad sport and apparently the animal gets brutally killed afterwards, but gee, they got a fair flogging and the idiots had it coming! Haha I laughed and laughed, thanks for the video, that was gold!

Oh, it wasn't a stupid stupid people thread

The Corrida is all about giving the bulls their day... you see humans get their EVIL, EVIL way with the poor bulls every, every day... and the Spanish well they give the bulls a little retribution time.

I was in Spain last month and for all their purported financial trouble, life still seems way better than most everywhere else... food and night life sure are.

In South of France, this 150 years tradition was called the "taureau à la corde". The butcher would launch a subscription and the bull was set free in the village with a long rope. People would "play" with the bull until he got tired. Then the butcher would kill the bull and distribute the meat to the subscribers. It is said that the running of the bull was done to soften the meat, which is not very good in comparison to beef meat. I think it stopped in 2000 in France. This was usually organized in villages which could not afford to organize running of the bulls or corrida.

Not that I agree - only to give some insights.

sl

PS: In Pamplona, locals say that what matters when you do the running of the bulls is not to run fast but to be able to get out of the crowd pushing with your elbows when the bull arrives. This year, a Japanese woman got caught by a bull, with its horn in her belt. She was dragger along the street for 200m or so - she survived.

you gotta say this is just plain dumb, watched about a minute and the last 10 secs, which was sorta funny. But begs the questions, if so many people get picked up and dumped like that and supposedly lived, how come some many people can be hit/king hit and die, given the recent events in Kings Cross and on the north coast of NSW by that ex footballer?

Doesnt make sense

They must be drunk to be so brave, surprising to see so many middle aged blokes getting it, I would be up high somewhere it could never get me but I could observe the carnage.
The horn looks padded but still, that thing sinking into your back 6 inches, the damage would stay with you perhaps forever.

Watching some of those hits, I wouldn't be surprised if some died. There were some pretty solid hits to the head and those that hit hard weren't getting straight back up.

I wonder if it makes much difference if you get hit hard in the head on a small area, or if it is spread on a larger area.

Either way, watching those hits, there is no way I would go near one of these bulls and get thrown around like a rag doll.

This is what they need in the Cross on Friday and Saturday nights.

I reckon the guy at 2.27 got hurt the worst.
