I wonder if these will take over the solar energy storage. With a million life cycles, they could become a family heirloom

Much less messy than batteries, be good if it's possible.

Are these systems on sale yet? If they are commercially available and perform as this fellow says they do, it would not make sense to by lithium batteries.

Energy density still isn't up there compared to LiPo though.

Look to the radio control world for newer technologies, internal combustion is all but gone from there, everything's electric now. Regarding storage, if supercaps had the energy density required then they'd be popular. It doesn't appear like they have reached the limits of the technology though, some labs are getting pretty good energy density, and there is wild (and rising) demand for good energy storage.

I suppose the weight doesn't matter for a home energy storage scenario, but for cars and planes it certainly does.

There are a few utube videos on Samsung mass producing graphene and starting to make power cells using it. It sounds too good to be true.

Samsung know what they are doing

A source of energy that can be charged and discharged almost immediately. Great in theory, until all the energy is released instantly in a car crash.
It will be the equivalent of being struck by lightning in a crash. Will need something like an electrical airbag that discharges in a prang without frying the occupants. A long time in the future in a distant galaxy far far away etc etc
