No that I know... The well known reference to 'the idiot box' is supported by programs such as this, days of our lives, and several shows I would assume...
However, I believe that not all programs on television are useless, and some such as the
News are there for
inform us of the days events; however bias they way in which they are presented.
Shows such as ACA or Today Tonight are there to
inform and
persuade viewers, but I feel are more to
increase the popularity of the station; no originality or goodness in their shows most of the time.
It is not the hypocrisy of Television itself, more this one program that features as GetFunky said... Kyle Sanderland and Jackio-O... Come on... EVERYTHING he says he tries to turn it into a sexual reference... Kids catch onto these things... They are influenced to much by everything around them; Just flip through Dolly Mags, Cleo even, Teen magazines, and see how young our kids are supposed to grow up...
What about Bratz dolls and their HUGE head that kids think are cool and Barbie and her tiny waist.... both of which aren't proportionate and means that neither would survive as a human being.
This brings up the whole controversy of the advertising of one company of a
kids brand of padded bra's a g-strings...
In the US, says visiting author Dr Jean Kilbourne, tiny bras and G-string underwear featuring cherries and the words "eye candy" and "wink wink" have now made an appearance in the children's wear sections of Target. Meanwhile, Barbie has moved from the ballroom to the bedroom: the Lingerie Barbie series includes black silk teddies, garter belts, stockings and bras.
