Oh my GOSH... Talk about television has reached the bottom of the shelves....

I haven't watched Big Brother for the last few years, until I had several of my year 7's insist I watch tonights episode...
Well... WOW... Bridgett- blonde... goes... 'Big Brother... how do you make bread crumbs...' then supposedly spent weeks crying because her clothes were taken off her and should couldn't sleep with her soft toy 'Princess Sparkles'...
Oh
My
G-O-D

Now WHAT a role model for children... must I say... now THAT is a female to 'look up to!'... Maybe I don't know... Oprah, someone with some intelligence!....

Sorry but seriously... At least I know my kids I talked to after, found her funny because she was so STUPID, but come on! Then Pamela Anderson went into the house... Need I say more...

BUT, I know its nearly 2am, but come on... TimeLife continually over and over and over and over and I emphasize over again for all the classic songs. I admit that I find myself I LOVE nearly all of them cuz mum had the old LP45s such as:

-Meat Loaf
-Rod Stewart
-Billy Joel
-Johnny Nash
-Bread
-Seals & Crofts
-Chicago
-Don McLean
-Amborosa
-Fleetwood Mac

Buttt goossshh.. LOL. Then it goes onto advertising Pilaties... Some damn nice bodies on those girls... but nonetheless...

ahh went. Rant and Rave over. Any other parents feel the same about the whole Big Brother thing.. I'm not complaining about the program per say, moreover the affect this could possibly have on our children.... I know we have the CHOICE to turn it off and not watch it; that isn't the problem.. I suppose it is for those children who do., are we supporting and encouraging a whole new decades of 'Bridgett's'

=]...

examples if u havent seen it - these are just random youtube searches so yer.
The LAST ONE is the BEST LOL... What a sulk...My gossshhhhh. anyway >next<

There is certainly no shortage of dumb people making dumb shows for dumb viewers..

Yep - I think all but the 1st year of BB has been continuingly plumbing new depths of low and pathetic TV.

BB is a rampent celebration of shallow, brainless, selfish and decietful behaviour being continually rewarded.. I mean for the last few years I couln't even watch it for the gratuitous hyper inflated mammary action!! Sad but true..

Kyle Sandilands?? I rest my case.. Whack another silicone enhanced nail in that coffin and chuck the stinky beggar overboard!

No that I know... The well known reference to 'the idiot box' is supported by programs such as this, days of our lives, and several shows I would assume...

However, I believe that not all programs on television are useless, and some such as the News are there for inform us of the days events; however bias they way in which they are presented.
Shows such as ACA or Today Tonight are there to inform and persuade viewers, but I feel are more to increase the popularity of the station; no originality or goodness in their shows most of the time.

It is not the hypocrisy of Television itself, more this one program that features as GetFunky said... Kyle Sanderland and Jackio-O... Come on... EVERYTHING he says he tries to turn it into a sexual reference... Kids catch onto these things... They are influenced to much by everything around them; Just flip through Dolly Mags, Cleo even, Teen magazines, and see how young our kids are supposed to grow up...
What about Bratz dolls and their HUGE head that kids think are cool and Barbie and her tiny waist.... both of which aren't proportionate and means that neither would survive as a human being.

This brings up the whole controversy of the advertising of one company of a kids brand of padded bra's a g-strings...

In the US, says visiting author Dr Jean Kilbourne, tiny bras and G-string underwear featuring cherries and the words "eye candy" and "wink wink" have now made an appearance in the children's wear sections of Target. Meanwhile, Barbie has moved from the ballroom to the bedroom: the Lingerie Barbie series includes black silk teddies, garter belts, stockings and bras.

Anyway... Good views ppl. Thanks. I like seeing the different opinions on the topic.

Ah yes, the delightful Pammy. The incarnation of all my adolescent fantasies. All the decent ones. Who says Big Brother is crap? If its crap its just because they don't go far enough. Must be scared of being named on Media Watch.

Oprah, I noticed is getting fat again so I wont watch her any more. Kerry Anne Kenerly (sp?) doesn't do it for me. The morning tv cloth headed bints are most unexciting. Give me something (someone) worth watching.

Who says its a man's world. What bull siht.

There isn't much on TV that really interests me. However whenever it seems bad I just remember a holiday my wife and I had in New Zealand. New Zealand TV is atrocious.

Why complain about Big Brother? Its catering to the lowest common denominator. Its cheap **** TV that has one purpose, to make money. You can blame the Dutch for this one coz they were the ones who developed BB.

We at least have the ABC and SBS but they are often crap too. However the gems they have make up for it.

Channel 10 should exercise self censorship and pull the show. It is voyerism for morons. Nobody benefits. For the majority of people who reckon it's crap and don't watch it, it might as well not be on. For those who do watch it, their lives would be better if it was not on. Either way...get rid of it.

Can't stand how the contestants, by the end of the series, are celebrities, idolised by young teens for having done nothing in particular, then do Rove, shopping centre appearances etc

Not all reality shows are crap. Most are imho. BB is definitely the pits.

I hate big brother. I don't even watch it and I hate it.
What is really amazing is that the parents of these year 7's let their children watch such crap.
I think today tonight, and a current affair are bs also. Half of their stories are crap. It seems they tend to feature the whiners of the country. Always whining about something. And apparently they target/pick on the minorities to get the majority of people to agree with the show, according to my yr11 english teacher.
However they do occasionally have a segment worth watching. When they have stopped complaining about fuel prices.

DP you are a very mature guy for your age; I commend you on this. =]

BUT I think the difference is with the kids in my class who watch it, is that they are aware of the stupidity of it all; they think Pamela is ugly, stupid and slutty....

They think Bridgett is an utter ditz, but they find this funny. They were in hysterics to me about Bridgett saying about Bred Crumbs, Mr Potato reference, and how she acts...

I am fortunate with my kids, I deconstructed with them the effects shows like Big Brother can have on them... Media etc. etc., and they don't take it seriously...

If anything, I am preparing my Yr7s for the onset of High School and things like this, media, advertising, bullying and everything that can effect them., and ways to approach and deal with it...
In a way it is good because its a true eye opener for them in a semi-controlled way through only specific weeks or nights of watching it; rather than having this all put on them sometime during highschool... Ahh well...
