Not being listening to my stereo for a while since my CD player and then amp stopped working.

Was going to get the Nad amp repaired for the second time in recent years but today bought a 20 year old Carver 1090 model instead, after reading good reviews of it.

Could only listen to the tuner, but sound was real good,a bit better than previous.

Took a time out to watch Masters of Sex or should I say to watch her!

Anyway, was worth the 400 odd dollars to get back to listening to music over watching the idiot box!

I have not had a TV in 5 plus years, ditching the idiot box was one of the best things I have ever done. It's not just the time wasted, the moronic content and the brain washing but the endless stupid god damned commercials especially.
Funny thing is when I say to someone I don't have a TV they ALWAYS say, "I have a TV but I never pay attention to it, it's just on in the background"

Well it's good that not having a TV makes you so happy, Beag.

My TV blew up about 3 years ago and I replaced it will a projector hooked up to the internet through apple TV. Resolution is great, huge screen 2.5m x 1.5m or something silly and when you want to watch sport, or a movie or a good TV show it costs a few bucks at most. Best of all, youtube, red bull TV, espn, history channel etc is all in there for free.

Radio is great - Just gotta be careful for those subliminal messages.

I like 2JJ radio on TV.

As for bagging TV - it's like the supermarket, you don't have to eat Coco-pops just because it's there.

Radio is a bigger waste of time than TV by a factor of 10.

Turn an old PC into a DVR, midrange home theatre audio and you've got all the audio and video entertainment you'll need. Plus, Netflix...

You are nearly there pete.

Tune it to ABC Classic FM and leave it there and add a turntable to it so you can listen to fantastic vinyls.

For those a bit techy - you can team a

chromecast
www.binglee.com.au/hisense/tech/tv-video
with a

hdmi-audio-splitter
www.ebay.com.au/itm/like/251285727388?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=107

and plug them into your old amp.

You can then control your old amp using your phone/tablet and stream internet radio/spotify/youtube music/whatever.
Or use plex/xbmc to play your mp3s on your pc in the other room on your old amp.

/anyways, just sharing for those interested...
