I have always loved the old LP format over anything else.

Compared to tape, cd, MP3, FLAC Ogg etc etc The old scratchy vinyl brings soul and life to music.

Seems that fewer and fewer people can appreciate this except for this guy.
He has a collection valued in excess of $US 50 million and is selling for $US 3 Million

Brings a tear to a music lovers eye

My parents had LPs and I grew up with them. The first album I bought was on vinyl, Chad Morgan. Would the Sheik of Scrubby Creek singing about shotgun weddings bring a tear to your eye too?

After this I bought cassettes. I have no doubt that CDs and all the digital formats coming afterwards are better than cassettes. However its true that LP has a great quality.

I see JB Hi Fi sells records now, problem is they are very expensive.

You need a backer to buy his records?

Thanks PR!

My parents had probably 200 albums, (elvis, R-stones, Hermans Hermits, D Dimoochi, etc) and about the same amount of singles......my brother and I used to play them on a small portable LP player, and sit the tape recorder/radio next to them and make our own 'compilations', which we played with our 'walkmans'.....

.....somewhere along the way when moving-house, the whole lot got lost/stolen, at the time us kids didn't care, but later on realised why mum & dad were so upset about it.

$3m?!? a bit over a dollar per LP (1mill LPs, 1mill singles)......surely someone will come up with the coin?

I was a mad keen LP collector when i lived in Wales

My sister in law gave me her entire collection, all original albums to including Stones, Zep, Floyd, Golden Earing, Traffic, Peter Frampton etc etc etc

All up must have about 1000 albums there all classics just no cheap way to get them here.

I have still got my modest collection which has been reserected by my son and added to by some judicious purchases from op shops etc. My question is if you purchased the original album and paid royalties can you down load a copy without infringing the law. I in some instances would have purchased several copies of the same album.ie original vinyl. then casette tapes then CD then replaced the CD's cause of damage etc,
