Had about 14 hours on the water now. Sydney wind looks to be kicking off tomorrow - well above 20 knots.

Should I chuck a sickie (plan already in motion) or will the wind be too much for me at this stage??

The first time you get blown out to sea and can't get back is always an eye opener. In my case I was in a water sports centre and the safety boat came to get me, eventually. If you dont have this luxury maybe try the lake eh? I didn't get what windsurfing was about until u went out when it was windy, lol :) have fun!

Should be OK, just remember to pick a spot where the wind is onshore, that way you get blown back to safety if something happens.

Offshore winds are very dangerous...

thx guys. wind gusts were way too strong for me at this stage. Although think sail I had rigged from the sailing school was a bit big. A lesson for newbies....over 20 knots with gusts to 30 is for next season
