We are urgently looking for a boat (any type as long as it can hold up to 4 people plus captain/skipper) to shadow a 6.5m Landing Craft as it sails from King Island to Melbourne this Friday (15th April).

The boat must be able to carry the four documentary crew, plus 9 small cases of camera equipment and luggage. The boat will be used as a support vessel for the four boys traveling in the 6.5m Landing Craft. We plan to film the boys in from the support boat and travel alongside them. The 6.5m Landing Craft can travel up to around 10knots, but happy to go slower if needs be.

We are filming a documentary called The Green Way Up, in which 4 guys travel around Australia on biodiesel only. 6.5m Landing Craft will run on biodiesel. We started in Tasmania (sailing to Three Hummock Island, then to King Island) we now need to sail to Melbourne in order to continue our journey in a biodiesel car all the way to Darwin.

The boys will collect waste oil as they go which they will turn into biodiesel to fuel the car.

If you have a boat, or know anyone who can help us. Please let me know!

Thanks

Have you tried contacting the local sailing and fishing clubs?

They may be able to help you out.

What size boat? your going to need a BIG boat possibly a Professional Cray / fishing boat of at least 50+ ft.
Have a read of a recent thread about sailing to King Island.

PS; take plenty of seasickness pills with you, looking through a camera view finder on a rocking boat is one of the most rapid ways to get crook and stabilised lenses are even worse.

Contact Coastguard - the publicity they get might be the clincher?

A healthy cash donation to the Coastguard might sway them also.
