Why do you believe we have an abundance of sharks? A predator population depends on a few things, but prey availability and competition with other predators being two factors. Given that humans have only recently become a major predator in the ocean, competing with sharks for prey, couldn't we deduce that shark populations are at an all time low?

358,192 humans per day are born ....... Yeah there's a problem with sharks taking over the ocean and eating all the surfers righto.

The only ones agreeing with culling sharks comes from a small group of surfers on the WA coast.

I still reckon fish and chips is the main purpose.

Maybe we could solve world hunger and feed the starving fish and chips.

Ok guys what we really need to be asking ourselves is what have sharks done for us lately? F**K all thats what !! Except having a bit of a nibble on us at the moment.

Sharks have been on this planet for 70 million years or so and what have they done or accomplished in that time? Same answer F**K all!!!

Humans have been here for just a couple million years and we are pretty much running ** now. We have built lots of big stuff and invented amazing things like Jet planes, spaceships, submarines, internet forums and chem trails whilst the most a shark has ever done was play a good leading role in the Jaws movie!!!

Seriously its time for sharks to show us some respect!!

They are not top of the food chain, WE are the top of the food chain!!! They don't even know what a food chain is and it wasn't even called that before we called it that so screw them!!! I would like to see them all down at cott beach protesting after one of us got killed in a car accident or something like that but they wouldn't because they don't care!!!

Who says they are abundant? My take on it is that they are just used to eating around where we want to swim, so culling them would only work if its done at those places. If they were culled in the middle of the ocean, its not going to change anything.

Now now, obesity isn,t something to be joked about.

All this lament about lost sharks is associated with inherited human admiration for aggression.
The most scary and aggressive, blood thirsty creature is that more attention receive and support to survive.
Nobody care about similar size tuna going straight to our table and dish.
We are quick to incorporate Eagle into our banners but nobody put a pace loving geese or useful chicken there.

This again should provoke all this Green lobby to think again, that what they do promote is in straight contradiction with their world pace program.
We are trying to eliminate or at least restrict one more aggressor from our surroundings.

First step could be attempt to develop genetically modified sea algae with high THC content - sort of underwater Marijuana weed. Feed them to sharks and after next few million years they could evolve and modify their behavior.
Then we will see sharks climbing onto Japanese trawlers to hang banners and protest against whale culling -their beloved brothers.

The most success with pro shark propaganda is in diverting public attention from things that really matter to the safe topic that is completely pointless but emotionally addictive.
Lets think : How many sharks could be "culled" in such government program ( one ? two?? dozen ??) and if that number have really any impact on global shark population ?
How many cyclist will be "culled" on our roads in this same time ? How many drug/alcohol addicts will die? Even gun shots be fired ?

No , public will enjoy safe conversation on safe sharks topics.

Lets catch some sharks , and send a gift to the Syria, Ukraine, Somalia and NK to take care about our gifts.
Lets them people in this countries to discuss what to do with our gift, make referendum, stage protests.
Put a big fish tank in the central parade square to scary people with this real monster that kills people.

Crowds will come, look at the creature and compare to their own monster dictator , only to realize that the last one
is indeed tootles and defenseless like a sheep.

I think that will be very good use of our sharks.
