Why dont they just use a water cannon to shoot them off the roof. Or Bean Bag shotgun shells?

Close out media for 2km around the compounds.

Charter plane to send home.

Problem solved.

That would be dangerous... could you imagine the court case if they were blasted off and fell to the ground and broke their back / leg etc.
BUT you've got the right idea, a light gentle mist from a hose would be better sprayed over the buildings like a light rain / drizzle. Day time it would be bloody annoying night time cold as hell in damp clothes.

How about letting them live with the consequences of their actions.

Keep them contained where they are but don't do any repairs to the buildings they burnt.

Just heard an Advocate on the radio saying the 22 who have been imprisoned are in "a fragile state of mind" as they have no idea why they have been locked up. If they can't work out that if you commit arson, riot, destroy Government property and generally go on a rampage and then wonder why you get placed in prison you probably aren't smart enough to pass our entrance test anyway.

Just a couple of points there Cisco, Australia does not have a "socialist government", never has and in my view, unfortunately, never will. Australian government revolves around the capturing of the "middle"of the political spectrum so dragging what is in effect the mass of the, "don't care","don't know" Swinging voters(aghh) around ensures a backlash if a Labor government steps out of line. It's the thing that keeps Aussie politics immature and exasperating when conservatives can wheel out slogans and scare campaigns like "Mabo will steal your back yard", "stop the boats" "big new tax"" We're being overrun by Asian immigration". All of them untrue but all of them sucked up by the basic units of society, keen to beat up on anything different that lays outside of their great bogan world. Whoops, I'm ranting but anyway here's another thing you said we don't want to bring in monied or intelligent people. How do you know that the "illegals" aren't intelligent? is that just an assumption or just plain prejudice. And Monied people? that's business migration isn't it ? and we have a large number come to Australia each year as business migrants.

So, do you agree that monied or "intelligent" people enter Australia as business migrants or not. I'm not "pulling apart", I'm just understanding what you mean.

Just leave them on the roof and ignore them, when they will be hungry, thirsty and cold enough the will come down by them self or will fall and roll down dead, if dead they won't be able to mount a court case.

Can't agree or disagree as I don't know.

What I do know is that the Toyota dealer in Roma, Western Queensland can't get Australian motor mechanics because they all go to work for the mines as fitters or whatever.

It takes him 12 months to get a skilled mechanic into Australia from the Phillipines.

He is guaranteeing them work so why should it take so long????

Cisco, I been in the game for some considerable time. The reason we dont have enough trades, and in particular the type your mate is missing out on, is companies havant and dont promote apprentices. My mob takes over 100 a year, yes 100 bloody hundred, and its not Government type, its private enterprise. For those who whinge, serves the buggers right for not doing a thing about it in the past, either lobbying a tax on the clowns who wont take on apprentices or taking on any themselves. The sooking about the mining tax, is case in point, nobody has the guts to take on the multi nationals, sucking up all the labour and putting jack sh1t back in, not the Government of the day now, nor in the past. If your mates a Toyota dealer, serves him right, Toyota isn't pressuring the Government to assist, so he should shut up and tackle his parent Company. His solution is to fill it with 4-5-7 types, who are mostly bloody 2nd year apprentice level at bloody best.
Rant over.

You are absolutely right. The government hung our youth out to dry by dumping the apprenticeship system and it is rare for companies to invest in comprehensive training like that.

The Roma Toyota Dealer thing was part of an ABC report on the labour shortage in that town. Can't find it on the site any more so no link.

Maybe the solution might be to not incarcerate people who for whatever reason have had to leave their traditional homes behind...Seemed to OK for us to do that 200, 100 even 50 years ago but now the political spin would make us believe its a threat to our way of life.

A mate of mine is currently making a doco on this and I've been fortunate to help him out. We've worked up close to a couple of young Afghan blokes who are incarcerated in these "processing facilities" (ie let's not call them jails) and it amazes me how many intelligent, passionate and skilled people are still in the process of being assessed. I know bureacracy is a slow beast...but really, two years to have a claim assessed????? New Zealand can do it, Nuie can do it...but we'd rather sit on our hands. I often wonder what we'd do if we had no response for assistance...(jeez, I crack it if the train's delayed by 2 minutes....imagine if it was two years late!)

It may not take so long if they came with the relevent documentation, ie-: passports, Birth Certificates etc. And don't use the old line "they escaped by the skin of their teeth". They had time to pack some good clothes, arrange the money to pay the people smugglers (who are the lowest of all parasites and should be jailed for life), and more. I know my personal papers are within easy reach so if we have to flee, for whatever reason, I can put my hands on them in seconds.

Just a few points,
1. Would take a bit less time if they'd followed the rite channels
2. Would take less time if they did not destroyed all their travel docs before entering the country
3. Would save a lot of time and money if they did not jump the queue especially for the ones that do it in the rite manner.
4. Would save a lot of time and money if after been rejected 3 times they would just accept the decision of OUR government and go back instead of rioting and bringing unrest to our shores
5. Would save a lot of time and money if they stayed in Afghanistan and helped our diggers fighting their war for them
6. Would help their country greatly if all those "intelligent, passionate and skilled people" worked to help rebuild their own country
7. Would we get any assistance from....? Afghanistan? Indonesia? Iran? I doubt that very much..... We have to realize that Australia will not save the world and well managed charity starts home. We are spending gazillions on those people and yet we can't afford to increase our old age pensioner's income for them to be able to afford the minimum they DESERVE after paying taxes and contributing to our great country. Pardon me if I feel passionate about it and call me red neck or racist I don't care, that is the way I feel about it.
Oh and yes I wasn't born in Australia but I love it to bit and if I had to defend our values I would stay and fight no jump out and run scared to any other country trying to push my culture into them.

WA police or Vic police should be able to take care of this issue. They love using their tasers so why cant we incorporate realistic target practice for them?

Also is anyone aware of indonesia's policy on asylum seekers? It goes like this..

police place individual in headlock

apply pressure

no documentation means no documentation

put on plane

say laters!

I know I've said this before but what is it with the West Australians! How's about you stop talking about it and succeed from Australia, and become like some kind of red neck wonderland, an international "gated community" where every man, woman and child would be required to tow at least one jetski behind their SS commodore ute. Just think about it you West Boganvillians(that name may be taken already), if any of those pesky negro varmints crossed your boundary fence all you'd do is put down your whittlin, get out of the rockin chair, turn down the hillbilly music.......... and give em both barrels..... problem solved!!

log man logic is interesting - welcome new people to Australia and discard other Australians (well, West Boganvillians at least) based on hatred and poorly conceived ideas.
