Does anybody know what the wording of the whaling case Australia took to the international court is - or where I can find it - or if it has got there yet ?

I was told one fundamental basis of Australia's argument is that Australia claims 40% of antartic waters as its own territorial waters, and that this not supported by the UN.

If an outcome of the case is that Australia's claim to the waters is not valid then that sounds like pretty heavy repercussions.

But - that depends if they are claiming Japan is whaling illegally in Australian waters.

Is this what the case is ? or is it that the scientific whaling is not scientific but commercial, or is it something else.

I still see Garrett stating on TV that 'all whaling must stop and we have gone to court'. I can'f see how those two things are linked. The court case can't be to stop all whaling surely ? If so what a waste of money.

They would probably acheive far more to stop whaling by giving the cash they will spend on the court case to Sea Sheppard society and then turn a blind eye to Sea Sheppard's activities, and provide 'rescue missions to anyone in peril in the Southern oceans'.

If the japs wernt concerned about whaling they wouldnt put "RESEARCH" on the side of the boats, they know what they are doing is wrong.

They say its not for food, but whale meat still ends up on the dinner table
