You've never seen "musicians" use their status and reach to highlight causes or make statements regarding conflicts/disasters?
Yeah I have, why you accusing me of that ?
I am pretty sure if, hypothetically, I were to take my kids to see Together for Palestine concert, the last thing I'd want is to watch Ed belt out a rendition of Galway Girl. I'd much rather have Palestinian artist support acts lecturing the world on the horrors of the events in Palestine.
I see Macklemore is now doing a solo 'Free Palestine' tour. If I bought a ticket for it I'd expect lots of performance activism and virtue signaling, and not so much happy-go-lucky tweeny pop.
I see he is playing Dublin, London and Paris in his free Palestine tour. Really putting it on the line. I assume the announcement he has spoken to Hamas and also has a festival in Gaza is coming later. I heard Hamas love musical festivals. Maybe his support acts for Gaza could be Lil Nias X, Elton John and Andy Bell. Perhaps the three of them could stand up on stage and give a speech about freeing homos whilst a big screen behind them showing images of gay sex ? Just to raise awareness of course.
