Hello all surfers of Australia!

I just finished my long education as an accountant in cold Denmark and now i want to do everything but that . I want to live! I want to be smashed up by waves, fell the warmth of the sun and meet glorious surfer chicks and dudes. Since i was a little kid i wanted to be out in nature and using my body. But you know... i got caught up in the modern lifestyle where material wealth weighs more than psychical and mental health. Nevertheless, now's the time. My big question is : Where are good places to start off?

Before you answer, you all must have a whole lot of places in mind, so im gonna be more specific:

I am a dude, and i am 25.

-I dont want it to be in a big city. Preferably a smaller city would be ideal.

-I would also like to dive nearby if possible.

-(This isnt dealbreaker for me, but if anyone of you knows a place where i can volunteer in an "sustainable/organic farm-village" type of thing in the area, it would be heaven. I want to learn how to grow things, be with animals and play with life in that way).

-Awesome nature spots in the nearby area (radius of 600-700 km). I have always imagined Autralia to be nothing else but awesome nature spots. Correct me if i am wrong :p

-I havent surfed before, but i dont mind challenges. I am in good shape.

- Planing on spending 4-6 months on this.

Please feel free to give me any tips.. i kinda think i need them

We also have a great lifestyle here in Southwest Vic with surf all year round and a good mix of work and play. We don't have the tropical climate that some other states do but also don't have to worry about drought, cyclones or flood. With our temperate climate and many 'green' incentive options - it might be worth a look for you.

Had a laugh at your enthusiasm as another European metro sexual wanting to find GOD in the surf......... Reminded me of the AUSTRALIAN FILM WOLF CREEK worth a look.

The Sandfire Roadhouse is 1,900 kilometres (1,200 mi) north of Perth in Western Australia. It is on the Great Northern Highway between Port Hedland and Broome, 20 kilometres (12 mi) from the coast. Bogucki left the roadhouse on 11 July 1999. He intended to ride his bike across the Great Sandy Desert to Fitzroy Crossing. Whilst police called off the initial search for Bogucki after 12 days, family members hired specialist trackers to continue the search and soon found fresh evidence that Bogucki had survived at least that long.[2]Found[edit]Bogucki was found by a Channel Nine news helicopter on 23 August 1999 in Western Australia's Edgar Ranges, 400 kilometres (250 mi) away from where he set off.[3] Bogucki's subsequent treatment by the Channel Nine crew raised questions as to the extent to which they had ignored his well-being in order to secure an exclusive news story. With there only being four seats in the helicopter, West Australian photographer Robert Duncan was left behind with a bottle of water and an EPIRB.[4][5] After going without food for about six weeks and water for twelve days, Bogucki lost 20 kilograms (44 lb) during the ordeal.[6] He managed to survive by finding some standing water in pools and was also able to find some by digging for it.
