You're working a day for free this year, it's a leap year.

I work for free every day and have the sh!ts with it. This morning I went in at 3.30am though I'm supposed to start work at 8am. I was in there for about an hour doing some stuff and went back home for a couple more hours sleep. That was after working till 6pm yesterday though I'm paid to work till 4pm.

So almost every day I seem to be working two hours for nothing. Its not like I'm on an especially high salary to begin with nor is my employer short of a dollar either.

I'm so bloody over it.

I used to leave on time on the dot but work is piling up. What to do? Today I left on time. I don't give sh!t anymore. I'll do my eight hours and go home.

get out of there mate before you shrivel up & croak - Gorgon Gas over here , another couple of big Gas players as well , mining opportunites everywhere too , could do with nurses too .... skills shortages we have in WA

Read whats in your contract if it stated your working hours are 8-4 well that all you have to do. (turn your phone off after hours.) If you are expected to work these hours try and renegotiate your contract first before leaving..

Yeah, but kinda balanced out this year with the additional public holiday later in the year....arent we getting two queens birthdays or something?

i dont get days off. worked christmas day and every public holiday etc. glad i like my job

Negative - Mobydisc seemed to be struggling with his job & being Aussie I pointed out that there's opportunities over here.

If I recall correctly, Moby did a scouting run to WA a couple of years back to scope it out for just that reason. End result was a decision to stay over East, though I can't remember exactly why.

Hamsta knows what he's talking about, if you are exactly what they want then no worries you'll get a job. But if your not???

What to do? Let it pile up, and when someone above you asks why it's piling up tell them.

I really don't get this kind of commitment by people who are not "on an especially high salary to begin with nor is my employer short of a dollar either". Unless you spend a heap of time at work on facebook, SB forums, talking to the chick next to you about my new bike/cat/kitchen appliance etc, then you should do your hours and go home. If work piles up that's your managers problem - that's why they're your manager.

I've been dealing with this kinda rubbish for years. One stage I worked out that my pay to be the equivalent of a checkout chick. I have swore never to work for anyone ever again. I leave next Friday.

People keep telling me that you will always work for someone ie clients but it's different and there is certainly a different power play. If my business is not successful I will still never work for anyone ever again.

Sorry mate, got somebad news.....

Unless you are prepared to put in at least the amount of time you have been working for somebody else as a minimum, (at least in the first five years) your new business will likely not succeed.

You will then have to work for somebody else to pay off the debt!

Of course the other option is to declare bankruptcy and go on the dole once it all goes belly up.

Disclaimer: I also work for somebody else... The Bank Manager!!!

For the next 2 months I'll work more than 60 hours week and get paid for 37.50...

Any one know wanna guess who I work for?
