Whenever the subject of the 'significant other' comes up on here, there's always a swag of ppl posting about how their partner gives them 5h!t about wanting to pursue their passion/addiction.....or how they have to beg and plead and make concessions to be 'allowed' to go. It really begs the question......if it's that much of a problem, why stick around?

Now don't get me wrong.....I spent a good number of years in the same boat and I still can't figure out why I persisted for as long as I did before I got divorced! What I do know is that once I did, I found someone who shared my interests and life got a whole lot better

Just curious to know what other ppl are using as an excuse to justify it to themselves?

right on Mr Bonk, these lads that sit around and let their wives treat them as though the wife is their mum and they are 12 year old boys! Harden the f**k up lads!

My wife wonders why i dont go sailing somedays when its windy! I never hassle her when she wants to go have coffee, movies etc etc with friends, and have no right to, so vice versa.

My wife works with people with addictions so she "understands" .

She's even gonna vote for daylight savings for the sake of my "healthy addiction" (even tho she doesn't really like DLS herself!) .

I've given her a few lessons and she's loving the sport. Now she really understands the feeling and the addiction.

Nope, can't think of any reasons to leave!!

My wife is happy when I'm happy, and nothing makes me happier than sailing
But then, I don't hassle her either

Yeah, what is it with wives preferring us to go sailing than "hassling" them. Is it something to do with the fact that we(or should I say "I") can sail for hours and hours, whereas...

You live longer if you're married...not that that's necessarily good.

I wonder why some here were so stupid as to getting married in the first place.

Of course this can be the most common justifaction for living a miserable existence or for that matter ending it deliberately. I had an Uncle who was a parachutist. He finally decided to jump off of a California bridge without a chute to end his life. My Aunt, his sister, tried to argue that his marriage was a happy one.

No one ever got murdered doing the dishes.

My wife does so much for our family as a whole and indeed our whole existance, kids are priority, she works hard to make it all work. The idea of taking off for a self indulgent sail does cause me to pack a small bag for the guilt trip.
Permission releives the guilt.

A lot of people who have posted hear will one day be saying " jees, should've got married way back when". Who's gonna nurse your aged body busted from windsurfing. Wouldn't be without her.

Don't be afraid to tell it like it is gents.

Yep i can see it now.

"I'm going to Lancelin for the weekend and if you don't like it we can get divorced."

This line would shortly be followed by.
"This is Rodney, he's my new boyfriend who's now living in your house. You can't go windsurfing because he owns all your kit now."

Good onya StepToe
I'd be nowhere without my wife. I would have even less windsurfing kit..

Why does Mr Bonk feel the need to persist in telling the whole World about his marital problems and how he hates kids ect!!

Hot tip for you Bonk...it may be *alright* for you now,but when your "significent other" realises that you *really* hate kids, well, your *perfect*World may change !

Oh please....she has no more desire to have children than I do. Anyway, it was a valid question......if it's so crap all the time, why *would* you stick around??

Glad to hear the *Bonks* are going to breed themselves out of existence !

As for the other question, one wonders !

I,m with Bonk on this one,too many wimpy statements about "brownie points "and shopping trips !

First mistake many make is DON'T ASK if you can go kiting, surfing, sailing, fishing etc. Just GO !
If they don't like it,tough !

On a more serious note,it's important to have your own life in a relationship. If you try to do everything together, pretty soon boredom will set in as one of you becomes more controlling. No prize for guessing which one will try to dominate and control the other !
