Just bought a second hand wave board but it just won't do the stuff I see in the magazines. I took it out the other day and I couldn't even get on it. I have been trying to windsurf for a few days now and am concerned there might be a defect in the board as I have yet to be able to do anything, not even loops.

After a couple of days on my kitsurfing gear I could do all the tricks in the book and decided that I would try to master windsurfing too, but there seems to be a problem with the equipment.

Can anyone shed some light on the subject?

That's the problem in buying second hand gear, the previous owner has obviously taught the board bad habits.

Try buying new gear, the more expensive the better.

The top of the range gear should the programed to loop directly out the box.

If this new board is also defective please give to me for disposal and you can return to kitesurfing.

SOMEHOW I THINK IT TAKES MORE THAN A FEW DAYS

try standing closer to the boards centre and balancing...
or maybe realisin ya cant just jump on and go.. there is some skill involved.

Thats why kiting's for Pussies with short attention spans and windsurfing is for those with a high pain tolerance

very tongue in cheek there

another possible reason is a variation of a computer term PEBCAK
the issue here could be PEBBAB (Problem Exists Between Board And Boom)

Is the fin in back to front? This is quite a common mistake with beginners and can lead to all sorts of control issues. I did this the other day and my board was all over the place, so check this. Another pointer is foot positioning and footstraps. Make sure you have your backfoot in the backstrap and not the front strap on the opposite side - this again leads to control issues and can affect radical tricks such as the forward loop.

I have never come across anyone who can jump on a board and blast away first time...especially a wave board. you need to "progress" start on flattish water, lower winds, bigger board, then when you comforable and have knowledge of the equipement move on......

Hey EyeMHardcore,

One of my mates took a shot of you a while ago out at queenscliff bommie, you weren't having trouble then:

Did you snap your board in the massive break and have to buy a new one?

I am getting the hang of it now. The problem was that the fin cover was still on, doh!

I am not sure who eyeMharcore is? He looks like a hellman though.

My name is eyeMhardcor and I am not hardcore at all, like calling a redhead bluey I suppose. Or fat dude skinny etc.

Try attaching the sail to the board somehow. It helped me once.

one thing that I found out is that if you take the board out of its cover,it goes heaps better

Can't believe some dudes are taking this thread seriously...itz hilarious...
But for what itz worth, try taking your board to a public swimming pool and carving up things there... including hapless swimmers... and get it on tape too... good4 YouTube... the other benefit of this approach izz that if you should happen to 'pickle' - there are always friendly pool attendants there to 'rescue' you...[}:)]
