You're driving past the beach and a kitesurfer runs out in front of you to rescue his wayward kite.Do you hit the brakes, causing up to 3% wear and tear on your brakes and thereby reducing the life span of the pads or do you run the ~~wierdo~~ ~~freak~~ ~~loser~~ poor chap down?

Yes that's correct officer, at the time I had said "look kids, someone has tied a big kite to that speed bump"...It wasn't till immediately after I realised that speed bumps generally don't wear boardshorts over their wetsuits.
