Probably showing my age, but I just cant believe that ZZ Top are the "support" band for Guns N Roses (or Axl and some hangers on).

Who puts these things together?

Kiss and Motley Crue - how are they even in the same ball park?

Deep Purple and Journey - they've probably never even heard of each other.

<sigh> ... back into my box now

When you look back at the zztop film clips you realise they are a couple of guys with beards and a hot panel van playing repetitive blues/rock tunes with some mumbled lyrics thrown in.

how can you say that!!!

Guitar riffs are legendary, try Beer drinkers and Hell Raisers - riffs after about 1min are tops (pun intended)

Indeed.

The Marching Golden Flashes

The Marching Golden Flashes is the marching band at Kent State University. The organizations serves as a musical ambassador of the Athletic Department and the Hugh A. Glauser School of Music. It is a spirited unit of instrumentalists, colorguard, and twirlers. The MGF performs at all home football games and select away games, as well as several band festivals throughout the fall. Auditions for twirlers, including feature twirler, are held in the late spring. All other auditions are held during band camp, the week before the beginning of the fall semester. MUS 45222 Mon/Wed/Fri, 3:20-5:15pm.

If you wanted to hear guitar riffs many minutes long you only had to go see Neil Young and CrazyHorse last week.... some described it as "old men standing in a circle and mastur....".

It was loud and long and for those that appreciate that particular Neil Young combo a good concert but I suspect a lot left disappointed with a 2 hour concert with only about a dozen songs of which maybe 4 were the hits from the past in the "Old Man" style.

For an old man himself he really put on a good show and his voice is still as it was years ago - is that good or bad ????

+1 for The Perth Arena too - great venue..

Saw the Perth show - was great... both acts put on a really good show... and all six of us from 15yo to 46yo really enjoyed it.

I went to see Niel Young and Crazy Horse and thoroughly enjoyed the show.

I play a bit of guitar (or at least used to try) and pretty much taught myself playing some of his early acoustic stuff.

I was fully aware that with Crazy Horse it was always going to be a bit more electric and grungy but it was interesting hearing different people's perspective some loved the show some were very dissapointed.

i saw zz top for a first time in early 80's, they were supporting the status quo.
billy played on a tiny guitar that looked like a kids toy. like the one on a video.
and my reaction was " who are these clowns with fake beards ?"

Yeh - I bought a fair few Cult albums (still listen to Love) before they disappeared up their own freckle.

Billy Duffy aint no Slash by any stretch tho.
