Yes for those that dont get depression and why suicide happens, the emotional and psychological pain of depression is described as the worst pain imaginable, worse than the worst physical pain, and the feeling of it being never ending........... Thoughts of death then fill the brain..... For some treatment doesnt seem to work, or they never get any treatment. Treatment can help, but not everyone

Depression is very real, very serious, and very lethal

I would have posted this under "Heavy Weather".
"Shooting the breeze"? I don't think so, unless you want to consider Bodhi from "Point Break".

^^^ the last thing we would want is someone with depression dipping their toes in Heavy Weather, it's an altered reality in there already.

Everyone should open and read the beyond blue link
You see the ads on tv and see it in the papers
I've never bothered to take any notice until I saw it here
To late now

Saw the signs in my uncle but never new what they were until I read link last night

He stopped training
Wasnt going to work
Lost weight
Told me he had a stomach bug
But that wasn't the case

Learn the signs and MAYBE u could help a friend or loved one before it's to late

^^^Bone, most 'signs' aren't spotted until the person is gone. Best thing you can do is be there for your mum. Depression is a state of mind...it's not a simple-fix a those with it found comfort with it.

Positive thoughts and enjoying time with friends can make a huge difference.

I posted this link once before when this topic came up.

A mate of mine who seemingly had the "perfect" life is suffering deep depression and talking about how he/we would be better off if he was gone.

Another mate who has been his "go to friend" when he needs help showed me this short youtube clip that helps those of us who can only say things like "he never showed signs of being depressed" or "what's he got to be depressed about" or "he needs to toughen up a bit!" and the usual things we all say when we have never had the deep depression that quite a few people have - many more than we all think....

It's a short clip so have a look.....

Depression is a very deep hole we dig for ourselves and until you turn around and start heading to recovery not much can be done!
Prevention is key in many aspects of our life's and if we can just take the time to show a little appreciation to our friends, work mates and family.
Thank the misses for dinner, drop in on a mate and say Gidday :D give a work mate the thumbs up on a job well done.
And for me just say hello to someone you don't know, ask them how they are going. Comment on what a great day it is and how lucky we really are.

Been there suffered that. It was a bad place and all consuming. In desperation I got in touch with "Beyond Blue"

They helped me so much, and after 4 years lying on the floor, basically unable to move.

They helped work out my problem, which was related to my skeleton [bones].

After a couple of operations, i was able to start fighting, and i did, like a punch drunk boxer

i managed to turn my life around.

It was too late for my marriage to be saved and my kids were alienated, but we got thru it .

I would be dead by now if it hadn't been for Beyond Blue.

i always talk about it all, because it can strike anytime. I saved a bloke a week ago who was suffering bad, and took a concoction of

prescription tabs. the cops had to break in to his fortified apartment [1,1/2] hrs to get in . he was comertosed on his bed, they say

within a hour or two of being brain dead.....pretty bloody sad. light affected him, the sounds in his head threatened, and everyone was

a problem to he.... he could not see his own problems

Thats a really good clip patsken.

I wouldn't recommended taking any prescription drugs for depression My neighbors turned into a complete mungbean. Its like she is walking around after being abducted by aliens. Dunno how that helps.

I popped a whole bunch of antidepressants at a party once and after about 9 beers i got dizzy and fainted and hit my head on the side of a washing machine.
