thanks for the info. one crucial info however is that only few car rentals actually allow to put racks on their cars. even less even have racks.

for a start totally disregard the message feerless has written above.
if you did as he/she told you to do , if you had an accident or inncedent where your gear caused any damage to someone or the car
you would be in deep ****.
you'll find a car that you can fit racks .[too easy]

as for feerless,why not fit the racks infront of the car rental shop?
no,you suggest to drive around the corner....
really showing [no fear]
get a life ,we are suppose to help people when they visit,not get them in trouble.....
