it was only a matter of time before someone came up with the ''final solution'' to the climate change crisis. mike pallo(letters 15/12) says ''the solution lies in tackling the root cause...overpopulation''.
interestingly, this was also the goal of people such as the infuential anthropologist margaret mead and team. in 1975, she organised a conference, the atmosphere: endangered and endangering, in north carolina, attended by fellow anti-population enthusiast john holdren.
holdren, who barack obama has since appointed as his science adviser, was the co-author of the 1977 book ecoscience, which ADVOCATES INVOLUNTARY FORCED ABORTION, MASS STERILISATION, redistribution of wealth and a ''PLANETARY REGIME'' to which NATIONAL SOVEREIGNTY is ceded, among other ''enlightened'' measures.
holdren's ''spin'' to explain away these views that he has elaborated on over 30 years ago is not convincing.
stephen schneider,is another of mead's 1975 team, is now also an adviser to president obama and a prominent player in the intergovernmental panel on climate change...a precursor to copenhagen. since 1971, he's flip-flopped from climate-cooling proponent to global warming advocate: ''our calculations suggest a decrease in global temperature by as much as 3.5 degrees centigrade. such a large decrease in the average temperature of earth, sustained over a period of a few years,is believed to be sufficient to trigger an ice age''.
in 1989, schneider said: ''TO CAPTURE THE PUBLIC IMAGINATION, we have to offer up some SCARY SCENARIOS, make simplified dramatic statements and make little mention of any doubts one might have. each of us has to decide the right balance between being EFFECTIVE AND HONNEST''. this lack of honesty seems to have become a recurring problem in light of the climategate emails and a feature of the copenhagen ''debates''.
the polarising question concerning a reduction of the population is: who will lead the way? surely it should be those who believe in this as a ''solution''.
however, this could be a way off because it now seems the '' THE EVER SO SLIGHTY COOLING CLIMATE'' could give them cold feet.

anyone thick enough to believe the problem is over population and the solution is population reduction should lead by example and get off it. (the planet i mean)

Hear here. Among those who should get off the planet is Prince Phillip who said that in the event that he was reincarnated, he would like to come back as a deadly virus so that he could help towards solving the problem of overpopulation.
This is the same Prince Phillip who is a founding member of WWF and who goes hunting endangered tigers in India.
I think he is already a microbe.

ok, lets have the projected population increase happen in nsw and qld only if you are happy with more population! why dont you live in india or china for a few months and come back and let us know what you think?
I personally would hate to live in a large populated and polluted mega city (like the ones where you cant see the sun or horizon because of the smog - eg europe, africa, china, india, usa, etc)
the world needs to get to a balance of population. balanced to what is sustainable environmentally, not artificial created
a few countries are trying to educate people that 2 children is ok. thats a more responsible approach.

i would tend to argue that economics is more the problem.
and the unnesessary system of HAVE at the expense of others(human)/otherthings(everything else) is what perpetuates the problem
and rather than fix the problem many (most -pfft, just about all us greedy ahs holes) would rather pass on the responsibility continue to stick our heads in sand and look to those "experts" who are touted as experienced or educated and believe them and the rubbish they spout when they say its better that we destroy suppress or inhibit human life just so we can carry on raping the planet for profit.
