Sold something on eBay.

Waited 10 days to be paid (sent an invoice on the 2nd day) and then filed a claim with the resolution center.

Today (day 12) got a resolution claim filed against ME by the buyer, claiming I haven't sent the item

WTF!?

The few things I have sold on ebay I paid the extra for registered delivery, even if the buyer never asked for it. It doesn't prove they got exactly what they should have, but it at least proves they got something. I think people are less likely to cheat if they sign for something, or in the case of genuine loss, they can track it.

I sold some car pieces to a guy in Melbourne years ago and they went missing. It turns out the postman there had a bit of reputation for things going missing and after some words from the buyer, the package mysteriously turned up.

There's always some risk though. People can send the wrong thing, or claim they never received it.

That's the thing - I haven't been paid, which is why I filed a complaint with eBbay I suspect the guy is trying to screw me around... his last purchase was - a bundle of sticks

I won't ship anything without it being tracked and insured.

They weren't jousting sticks were they?
They have a prior reputation for being way overpriced.

Last 4 of my ebay sales have been TWLs (time wasting losers).

What do you do to get the sale "reversed"? I can't relist the item wtihout paying the fees - for selling the item

I think you can cancel the transaction, "because you agreed not to go ahead", or "the buyer didn't want the item".

+ 1 on registered Post.

Sent something and 'it didn't arrive' I couldn't prove it did so I lost $200. Will NEVER send anything standard again.

On your issue, tell em to fark off any pay $$ before you send.

If there were several bidders and you are happy with the next highest bid price offer it to that bidder as a 'Second Chance' offer. You will then pay the fees based on the lower offer.

I thought the eBay fad was over, never hear anyone around me buying/selling there, used to be heaps.
Too many of those kind of complaints I suppose.

It's mostly Gumtree-Kijiji around me nowadays...

Just make sure you do anything within 45 days. Always had positive experiences until the last one. Purchased an inexpensive item from US with 20 day postage. I wasn't in a hurry so didn't panic when it hadn't shown up.

Contacted the seller after a month and got no reply so tried again a few days later... they got back to me saying they would "follow it up with USPS"... By the time I realised that the item wasn't coming, it had been removed and the transaction deleted from my history.

I put in a claim with eBay but they simply emailed me saying I can take it to consumer affairs or small claims (or something). $60 gone and no item.

Same for Amazon, Sailhack - I bought some books a few months back and they didn't arrive, but I caught it in time...

Only one bid on the item, and it was Mr Licorice Sticks :(

I sold a car on ebay bidders built it up to a good price some indian comes in whacks a highest bid in at the last second, then doesnt pay, so i offer it to the nest highest bidder, surprise surprise another indian, he doesnt want it either, ebay does nothing, so i relist same thing again a whole heap of names like RAJ, Dehal, etc, same frickin default, by this stage all aussie buyers have had enough, and i end up selling it just past the reserve price, a truck is dispatched to pick it up up from a transport company and the car gets sold for a steal to another indian, I think I got scammed EBay can S### it

I find gumtree a lot better now to deal with, to many hidden fees with fleabay now. Atleast with gumtree I can see the item and haggle in person for the item.

If your buying from overseas always ask for a tracking number. USPS do give a tracking number so you can see for your self when the item is shipped.

Monsieur Licorice Sticks is now claiming that he has paid by bank transfer - which wasn't even an option. Can't get in contact with eBay cos you're locked into the Resolution Center and they don't seem to pay much attention to it...

Can you cancel the transaction without "buyer" consent?

I think they do pay attention to the resolution centre, it just takes time. I think they wait for each party to argue their case, and then make a judgement call. I think they just assume that the most sensible story is correct.

If you point out that there was no bank transfer option, and he didn't have your banking details, then they will read that. Especially if the other party has no sensible reply to it.

I don't think you can cancel the transaction, especially when the buyer is saying they have already paid.
