He always does at least one disgusting act involving eating or drinking something. The more I watch the show, the less I like it. Very formulaic.

The next time your abandoned in the african outback or the sahara desert you will know how to save your life now!
I can think of numerous occasions where i was stranded and isolated in some sort of hostile environment, these things could have helped me out...
Like when my girlfriend and I were in the kitchen cooking and then got into a fight while she had the big knife...
Or this one time when i was shopping and the wheel fell off the trolley... I mean what do you do!

Watched it for the first time last night - slightly contrived (ala Steve Irwin) but interesting none the less. I just don't know why they don't turn the camera around 360degrees so we can see the 10 strong support crew and 5 back-up vehicles and helicopter trailing behind.
PS -least when I'm hungry travelling out west next time I can just pull over and take a bite out of some fresh road kill. WTF was he thinking, biting into that zebra.

Kayaking up Cape York years ago we ran out of water after finding potential sources dry. It's a bad feeling, swollen tongue, licking dew off our kayaks in the dawn. The next creek we checked had a bad croc aura to it, but we walked inland along it's bank until the saltwater ran out. It was then mostly dry too, but had the odd puddle of fresh water that wild pigs had been wallowing and ****ting in - it was brown, muddy, fetid stuff, but we filled some water bottles and headed back to the beach and set up camp near the creek mouth. We boiled that stuff 4 times, treated with iodine tablets between boilings, strained it through cloth, and finally drank it. It actually didn't taste that bad, and no-one was sick. The next morning there was a big croc slide going down the sand 20m from our tents. Paddling later that day we ran into a big cruising yacht, and thay gave us oodles of water, and a bag of chilled oranges. Heaven.

When I was passing the training in army part of our training was to survive in desert.
In any environment the best idea always is to copy from the local animals, find a shade and sleep the day, used the star light to walk the night (helps you to keep one direction).
Put a trap to catch a local animal, put soil in it's mouth and tie up some rocks to it's leg that it can't run so fast that you lose the track of it.
The animal will become thirsty because of the soil and will lead you to the closest source of water.
2.5 hours of walking during the day in desret without water is enough to kill you (50-60 degrees)

Plaky bag around a non poisonous bush/branch can yeild a surprising amount of water. Weight it down so that condensation drips to the bottom (but not out of the bag).
Watched 1/2 the show and got more n more agitated by his constant "Oh I am so kn psyched, everything is so kn unbelievable..kn so on... kn so on." voiceover.
Some good tips but what a show pony tosser.
Some of those "Oh the male elephant has seen me and may charge at any moment (which is why i am using my psyched voice so kn loud???) were suss as. From that camera angle the elephant may have been 50 feet or 1500 feet away. My guess is 1500 feet, and yes a fk orf fast car was waiting I bet.
In another ep the tossbag woke up from a freezing 'night of survival'. His voice sounded nor, mal. No-one sleeps in freezing conditipons and wakes sounding normal. Toss toss toss. Worst thing that probably happened to him was stubbing his toe on the jacuzzi back at the 5 star he actually stayed in.

I'm with sausage - the more I watch the less I am drawn to the show...
I like how after a multi day epic through all kinds of mud, guts and bush his pants and shirt are always clean. And from memory he's always clean shaven too.
For someone who broke his back in 3 places he seems to do a lot of parachuting, and making a meal of all of his landings too (at least the ones I have seen).
