Anybody upgraded from 4s to iPhone 5.
I have a free iPhone 5 upgrade if I want it.
I currently have a 4s and it's good enough.
Just curious if the upgrade is worth it or not worth the hassle. A larger screen is the only improvement I can see and I have heard users have had troubles with them.

Dont do it !

well not yet anyway. My wife works as mobile phone coordinator at her company and has a lot of execs who upgraded to the 5. Tons of complaints with buggy OS. a lot of them now wish they kept thier 4's.

About 51,500,000 Google results for "why iphone 5 is worse than iphone 4", and about 301,000,000 Google results for "why iphone 5 is better than iphone 4"

Clearly iPhone 5 is promoted by the pimps better

So a guy using Apple Maps walked into a bar. And a church, a hospital, a library, then off a cliff.

Green Pat, after upgrading my phone to iOS 6 (I think) I discovered apple maps and what a disaster that is. Google maps all the way.

Nothing is free when it comes to mobile phones. Why not keep your current phone and port your number to a cheaper plan that does not include a handset. I currently pay $8 a month for about $200 in talk and text along with 200mb of data. As I'm not in business or a big traveller it suits me. The same company I'm with has a $16 a month plan with a gig of data and about $500 in talk and text. This is through the Optus network.

I got iPhone 5 and it works well... Its heaps lighter and the larger screen for whatever that is worth to you!?

The battery life was disappointing to begin with but the battery life is getting heaps longer.. Don't know why but it definitely is!! So is my partners..

Should you or shouldn't you???

If ya want...

I only really upgraded coz my memory was full and I got the 64gb... Otherwise it works just fine..

Oh, and apple maps is dogs balls but google maps have a free app now.. That one seems better and has more functions (like public transport planning that the apple version lost)..

I would keep the 4s. Too many problems with the 5. Something's has happened ( or died) at apple that has stuffed the company.
Had to laugh when I installed the latest update for the wifi problem fix ( which I never had to begin with). I now have the problem that the fix was supposed to fix. Would almost be funny if it wasn't so annoying.

The "4" is probably the best value phone on the market...

Main differences;
4 to 4S - Siri
4S to 5 - screen size

Essentially the 5 is just a slightly pimped 4...

95% of people whack a cover on it... Once a 4 & 5 have a cover on it, they don't really look any different anyway...

Early rumours of iPhone 6, mid 2013... but past history says this is BullDust... Aug/Sep is most likely, historically. And Oct is most probable for them to actually be available to every Joe Blow.

i think apple have done their work here in the mobile space

they effectively invented the format and forced the entire industry - more or less- to copy it. So now newer models are simply less revolutionary by definition. I have a 4 and have zero desire to upgrade at this stage.

I love the iphone's form and functionality - but i reckon any of the top brands good models would be as good for me - but am thankful to apple for creating a great format that the entire mobile industry was unable to do for themselves until they were forced to respond.

it seems that the not so tech savvy - which is most of us - love iphones / imacs / ipads etc etc as they allow people easily to make videos , edit , photos etc etc - tasks that were just plain difficult before an elegant interface came along.

All hardware aesthetics aside - i think what really makes apple's product success is their intuitive interfaces. (although in the last year or two i reckon Apple have slipped a bit - the new itunes is especially annoying until you relearn / unshuffle the unnecessary interface shuffle they pulled)

On the other hand I have recently switched to a recent version of Final Cut X and it is a truly revolutionary piece of software that as a working video editor i am over the moon with -

The magnetic timeline is nothing short of an incredible advancement - so this software has had the special Apple magic dust applied - and is far more revolutionary than it has been given credit for. Time will sort that out.

Those that hate apple the most are techy -and especially I.T -guys who never had a problem in the first place as they were able to think like and dance around PCs / windows operating systems. These guys especially hate the control that is often sacrificed to make interfacing easy for Joe Punter.

I use both apple macs and pcs on a daily basis for work - and the PC is a great workhorse but horrible to interface with - but it does its job well.

So my take is that if you have an Iphone and its working well for you today- there really is no urgent need to upgrade to a 5.

Green Pat, after upgrading my phone to iOS 6 (I think) I discovered apple maps and what a disaster that is. Google maps all the way.

It's interesting that Google withheld Google Maps from iOS6 for so long. They *made* iOS users try out the Apple version, and honestly it's not too bad. Driving directions around Sydney are just fine and things like Map's integration with messages, FindMyFriend and the like mean picking someone up or meeting them etc. is one click away. So yeah, I don't get why Google did that.

While there is no question it is not as good as Google's version when it comes to data, businesses and transit for example, it is a far sight better than Google's first release way back in 2005. They have come out of the blocks somewhat close already.

My bet is they will catch up eventually. I think the app in on par or better than the Google offering, it is lacking in the data department only. And that can be easily fixed by throwing time at it.

Alternately they could just buy Nokia who seem to have Sydney, in its entirety, in 3D:
wego.here.com/
Apple Maps only goes out to Randwick for example when going South.

Wait for the next model, wife works for apple (manager of the Genuis repairers) have had more 5's in with issues than any other model before. If ur lucky you get a good one and will love it if unlucky it will just ruin ur opinion on such an amazing product,
Next model will be out by end of this year and will be a refined model of the 5, that will be the one to buy!!!
