Gidday to anyone driving around the northern suburbs of Perth

I am trying to find a decent supply of bamboo- to try out as masts for kid sized landyachts.
The supply of cheap second hand windsurfer masts is rapidly being overtaken by the amount of people taking up landyachting (actually its already happened) and I cant find enough to keep Pauls mob in Kalgoorlie, and Chooks brood in Esperance sailing.
I am also in the middle of putting together a smaller "kid friendly sized" prototype that will hopefully suit Scout groups- and trying to find a cheap supply of alternative masts instead of the usual windsurfing leftovers.
The right grade of ally tube is no longer available- and too pricey with a lot of wastage to boot.

Someplace around Wanneroo (I think) there is a big grove of Bamboo growing, IIRC with easy public access, but damned if I can remember where I saw it

If you happen to know where any bamboo is lurking- can you please let me know?

Thanks all,

stephen.

I have a 80% carbon mast top section from a 4.30m SDM. That any good to you?
Might be OK for a kids mast at around 2 meters long.
I also have the two sections of the bottom if you want them as well
I think that bamboo is located up near Ocean Reef road on Wanneroo road. I have seen it, but cant recall exactly where.

Pretty sure not Wanneroo x Gnangara ...... Mineral's location rings a bell...... southern side of Ocean Reef Rd, east of Joondalup Dr somewhere...?

GOTCHA! thanks fellas- it makes sense as I have driven down ocean reef road a few times.

Mineral1- yep- I dont mind liberating the bits of mast- or anything else gathering dust,
Both Paul and Chook are desperate for stuff- and chook has even more students building landyachts at the moment.

My prototype is based on a "sawn-off" (scaled down) lefroy mini that is better suited for smaller kids and aimed at scout troops, it is roughly a lefroy mini reduced in size so it will fit inside a 6 x 4 trailer- and with a plastic seat, and a basic plywood body to keep legs and feet inside during a tip-over.

All the best- and thanks again.

Stephen.

I don't think thats bamboo (just south of Ocean Reef Road and west of Wanneroo Road) I think it's more of a swamp reed type thing.

Though if you want a wild goose chase I think there is some bamboo around Karoborup Road, Carabooda, I will try and have a look next time I'm heading down past that way.
