im planning to move to perth in about a month
im wondering where a cheap place to rent would be close to wave sailing
north of the river would be best
i have been to perth a few times on my way to geraldton to windsurf with friends
but since i love WA so much and spend too much on airfares im getting a transfer
any leads would be a great help

good move

renting is affordable all over, but if you're looking to buy near the coast then you'll need plenty of $$$$.

burbs along the coast from nth freeo upto scarbs is good, not too far to cbd and you'll score a few decent pubs but not many though.

but i've only been here for 6 months, so probably best to ask a real perthodian (is that a word?).

around Cottesloe and Scarborough is a good option as these are the two main sailable spots on the ocean IN Perth. So that you are only 5 minutes from your soon to be local spot for the week day/evening session.
Cottesloe (Dutchin) is a good wave spot in winter and perfect bump&jump/little wave spot in summer (and good friendly atmophere)..Scarbs is a beach break (more shore break style) so the waves break really close to the beach, but lots of people like it.
But it depends where you work, some people also live at the very north of Perth like Joondalup/Ocean reef and then you are only an hour away from Lancelin..
Remember there's no wave spot as such in Perth you 'll need to drive for that Lancelin-Greenhead-Geralton-Gnarloo..or Mandurah-Margareth River-Esperance

Rent in Cottesloe is a bit more expensive but you could still find some cool little place.
good luck!

I hear there are some cheap rentals in Padbury
That's 12 mins to Scarborough, 9 mins to Mettams, 5 mins to Seal Island and 74 mins to Lano.

Wow that was quick trip Mr Fish, how did you manage to cut a month down to 1 week, a few of us here might have need of that trick.

I told you already where the wind is, Leski pinched it when he went east!!!!
All we have to figure out, is how to get it back!

sadly Decrep you're right I got the wind with me, although I am still not too sure how to make it blow over here.
But I am back for a week, end of Nov, so get ready for a week of seabreeze extravaganza, after that the global warming will again f*ck up everythin

At the moment it's doing tiny quantum circles somewhere in leskie's luggage, perhaps it's sulking for being kidnaped.
Can you sweet talk it leski, (don't let anybody see you talking to your luggage, they might not let you back!)promise it your taking it back home, then we might all get a bit.
