It seems that the half flush works fine but after dropping the kids off at the pool and you go for the full flush there is a problem with activaation of the refill function .a bit of a twiddle and the cistern refills but i'm getting sick of having to to take the lid off the cistern and twiddle and take care of other peoples business .Any ideas here on how the problem can be resolved .We're getting a house inspection soon to make sure that it ok for us to have OS students stay and I'd hate to stumble at this hurdle

Drop one lawyer at a time, flush in between.

Serious, be careful when putting the lid back - it's easy to break the porcelain, then you will have a much bigger problem on your hands than a couple of Herschey bars...

For 20 - 30 bucks at a hardware or plumbing store you can buy a unit that is the float valve and seat all in one. easy to fit.

spend the extra couple of $ and get a caroma or geberit brand inlet valve. universal fit super easy to put in and grab a flexi hose while there as well. be super light and careful when screwing the flexi hose onto the plastic inlet valve though. very easy to cross thread.
flexi hoses in 300, 450 and 600 mm lengths.
easy.
also be sure to check the bowl is a match for the cistern in litres flush.

I have found a slight bend in the float arm (bend it down) and a bit of wd40 at the hinge solves this problem.
